In the same boat, I'll be getting that tune sooner than latter, keep forgetting to do that.

I have heard enough good things from people on here that I feel like know what they are talking about to justify making a change.

I get bucking at idle speed, mainly when pulling into my garge, I have to feather the clutch or the car bucks pretty badly, it's annoying.
Maybe it's just something a bit wrong with the car in general but I want to try this new tune.

Even if there is some potential power loss, I likely won't notice with my driving style these days.

Agreed, driving is smooth for me now, no bucking, hunting etc but the members here are convincing me that I don't know what I don't know. Plus I'm not chasing power figures anymore, so a few whp won't be noticed.

Haha I just shot Bryson a PM. Although I am installing that new Eventuri Hybrid Carbon Airbox that retains the MAF. + Euro headers and Euro Section 1.

I have been running the Mullet Tune since May of 2025 when I installed my intake and I could not be happier. In fact I would say that with v48 my car drives better than stock.

What I told Bryson after updating to v48

"I am honestly blown away how much of a difference this latest version makes. It is hard to describe because the changes appear to be very subtle, but also so critical to how I drive 95% of the time. It is the 2000-3000 rpm range that makes all the difference. The car is not more or less responsive than it was with previous versions it just feels more connected to what I want to do with the accelerator and somehow feels more intuitive."

I am sure there is some more HP to be had with a dyno tune, but honestly I do not care. I love the way my car drives and with the top down the roar of the CSL intake is all the power I need.

IMO the E46 M3 community is lucky to have members like Bry5on heinzboehmer karter16 and many others that are still innovating a 20 year old platform.

Isn't this the truth. These forums are the last bastion of serious fanatics, that's why I sit and listen most of the time.

I am running the bespoke Mullet "Snowflake" version.
                Old, not obsolete.

Is there a page that contains more info on Bry5on's tune? I thought I was set on using Kassel Performance, but now I am considering going a different route.

There is a ton of information in his Build Journal, and I definitely suggest reading the whole thing.

As for the "Mullet Tune," details are scattered throughout the thread rather than on a single dedicated page. Unless I'm mistaken, he didn't create the tune to start a tuning business... he just wanted to get the exact drivability he was looking for out of his own car. It just so happens that his criteria for drivability lines up nicely with what many of us want, as you can see from all the praise.

What is the prevailing opinion on flashing your DME versus getting a donor DME to carry the tune to allow for reversability?

You can just download your current tune and upload a new one, so you can always revert without have to physically swap the ECU's.

Based on your username, are you local to San Diego? If so, you're welcome to come give my car a drive to see if you like how it runs

I didn’t realize you’re in SD! I’m up in Cardiff by The Sea, no M3 yet, trying to decide which one to bring out…

Haha it’s awesome how you picked up on the specific area code. I grew up there but live out of state now. I’ll definitely look to contact you when I’m back in town visiting! I left one of my cars with my parents.
