So I was wondering what’s the best way to go to squeeze as much power as I can out of the s54 without actually going forced induction, I know this should be the last of my worries considering I have a 204k mile s54 who the previous owner dogged on but I’m just curious.

What's your budget?
Then do maintenance first since it's at 204k.
If you have money left over get a CSL intake and a tune.2004 BMW ///M3 Carbon Black/Cinnamon 6MT Dinan S2 FBO NA Build

What he said. Then move to e85 and another tune, that's the path on most NA cars. Then if you want to dump money, cams.2003 | 3.91 | CMP Subframe & RTAB Bushings | SMG (Relocated & Rebuilt) | ESS Gen 3 Supercharger | Redish | Beisan | GC Coilovers & ARCAs | Imola Interior | RE Rasp | RE Diablo | Storm Motorwerks Paddles | Will ZCPM3 Shift Knob | Apex ARC-8 19x9, 19x9.5 | Sony XAV-AX5000 | BAVSOUND | CSL & 255 SMG Upgrades | Tiag | Vert w/Hardtop

Out of curiosity bigjae46, why haven't you moved to e85? On many other NA cars that appears to be the progression, if wanting to stay NA. Eek out another 10-20% depending on platform.2003 | 3.91 | CMP Subframe & RTAB Bushings | SMG (Relocated & Rebuilt) | ESS Gen 3 Supercharger | Redish | Beisan | GC Coilovers & ARCAs | Imola Interior | RE Rasp | RE Diablo | Storm Motorwerks Paddles | Will ZCPM3 Shift Knob | Apex ARC-8 19x9, 19x9.5 | Sony XAV-AX5000 | BAVSOUND | CSL & 255 SMG Upgrades | Tiag | Vert w/Hardtop

Couple of reasons.
First, cost. E85 in TX isn't widespread. Maybe 1 in 50 gas stations will have it. It's TX so gas is cheaper because of state taxes and transportation costs. I'm close to 6 major refineries with two massive pipelines which serve all of the tracks in TX. There is maybe a $1.50 per gal difference between 93 and E85 - most people say they spend more running E85.
Logistics - I'd have to start with a full tank and carry at least 4 jugs of fuel to make it through a full day to end the day on empty. Which means I would need 6-7 jugs to make it through the next day. My car isn't street legal and the tracks in TX do not have E85 on site. That means I am transferring 10+ jugs of fuel into the tank per weekend.
Weight - I'm probably the only one that will be affected. Since my car is 2500lbs or less dry I can feel the difference in weight between a full tank and 1/4 tank. Not massive but a difference nonetheless.
Rules - Most of all, I don't need the power. I detune to 244hp for ST4/TT4 with NASA and I'm getting close to the ballast limit. I will need more power if I get into ST2/TT2, may consider E85 then.

At 204k? Rebuild from the ground up with forged internals, ported heads,... I wouldn't start with going outside in, at 204k with unknown state of internals it's better to start clean.
If you're looking for serious n/a power, engine swap or car swap 😂

Kind of what I was wondering. A tune and e85 in the 5.0 coyote gets you a solid chunk of go fast for almost no effort.Originally posted by Obioban View Post
I've never seen anything like 10% from e85 on the S54, at least compared to 93 octane. More like 5-10 hp, in a comparison where all else is equal (including a bespoke tune before/after, not generic vs car specific e85).2003 | 3.91 | CMP Subframe & RTAB Bushings | SMG (Relocated & Rebuilt) | ESS Gen 3 Supercharger | Redish | Beisan | GC Coilovers & ARCAs | Imola Interior | RE Rasp | RE Diablo | Storm Motorwerks Paddles | Will ZCPM3 Shift Knob | Apex ARC-8 19x9, 19x9.5 | Sony XAV-AX5000 | BAVSOUND | CSL & 255 SMG Upgrades | Tiag | Vert w/Hardtop
