FCP Euro has the genuine BMW clutch kit on sale/clearance for $540 before taxes so I thought I'd buy it to store away since it was listed at $1k for a while now. Need a second or third opinion from you guys, how does this look to you? TOB looks a little chewed up, and so do the inner rings on both the clutch disc and pressure plate. Is this normal or would you guys send this back? Curious to hear some of your opinions, especially those who have done a few of these installs.

I'm not even so sure that the input shaft of the transmission mates with the surface in question due to the taper of the shaft.2004 Silbergrau Metallic 6MT

I had a lot of problems with gear changing when i used a Sachs TOB with my mew LuK clutch kit.Originally posted by dannyzabolotny View PostIs the throw out bearing decent with the Genuine BMW kit? The last Luk kit I installed on a customer car came with such a crappy and loose-feeling bearing that I threw it in the trash and got a Sachs bearing which felt quite a bit smoother and tighter.
I cannot remember why a Sachs TOB is recommended over the LuK.
I had the LuK TOB fitted and all is well.
I don't think mixing clutch components is a good idea.

That box looks beat to shit.
The OE bearings are crap. I pull the race and then clean and grease the bearing which I would like to believe helps it last longer and feel smoother.Originally posted by dannyzabolotny View PostIs the throw out bearing decent with the Genuine BMW kit? Yeah, that box looks like it went 9 rounds with 90's Mike Tyson. sucks too because I know FCP are sticklers when it comes to original packaging when returning for lifetime replacement. How does everything else look to you though?Originally posted by bigjae46 View PostThat box looks beat to shit.

It looks as expected coming from box that's beat to shit. As long as nothing is cracked and the friction surfaces look good, woundn't worry about it.Originally posted by ugaexploder View Post

Is it worth maintaining the piece that locks the SAC mechanism in case I need to remove the pressure plate? Wondering if there is a way to reset the SAC and then locking it in place. I use a puller and a mandrel but there is no way to tell that the SAC is actually reset until the transmission is back on.
