Looking for thread: re-dyeing cinnamon seats

I think it was on this new forum, but maybe not as I can not find it. I remember somebody was re-dyeing cinnamon seats. I remember there were nice pictures in there. Remember where it was and who did it? Thank you!

Sorry I can't help with the thread you're asking about, but I can say that i recently dyed some grey leather parts black using products from leatherworldtech.com . They came out looking better than new.

The process is very forgiving. It's something anyone can do with a little patience. Helps to have a heat gun as well.

Thank you. There were an example there of using clear over the pigment. I can't remember if that was semi-satin, satin or matte and how it looked before and after.

Do you have a suggestion how to fill in the cracks in the leather?

I used satin finish. Color code 523.

The stain itself will help fill cracks and make them much less noticeable.

thank you for your information. I looked at their site and everything looks really nice apart from their color sample for implants red: looks least red on their chart: https://leatherworldtech.com/bmw-dye/ The code is for older Z3M implants red, that looks exact match to e46 m3 IR on the photos though.

I haven't seen the tread you are talking about but I did use their Top Coat product on my seat refinish. If that is what you are talking about...For me the Satin was too shiny. But they don't sell Matte in that product. They had some left over from when they used to produce it and I was able to get a bit and am happy with that sheen. My advice on applying this product is to use an airbrush and go very light coats and as few as you can get away with to get the coverage you want.

I used a sponge on my dye coat and if I did it again I would airbrush everything. I think if you airbrush the dye it comes out more of a matte sheen from the videos I watched after I did mine.
A clear finish design to give more protection, feel, and durablity to your leather products. Can be use on aniline, semi aniline and pigmented leathers. On aniline leathers you will be changing the leather to a semi aniline.

I've used their kits, semi-gloss is too gloss, you need as matt as possible to get close to the factory finish. This is the seat I did - before:

Looks great! How long ago you did it? Just interested how it would hold up. If you do it properly with multiple coats and clear on top, I would hope that it would last.

Did it about 2 years ago, still look just like it was on day 1. I did use airbrush to apply the paint and the clearcoat, 1 color coat, 2 coats of clear + sealant.

I paid Kevin over at Master's to redo my entire Caramel interior on my M5. It came out insane, it's been a year it's held up DD'ing it with carrying things and people in the back, folding the seats etc. I'd recco you hit him up first.

Really good to hear about re-dying holding up. That is my biggest worry on mine. Only been a few months on mine but so far so good.

I re-dyed my passenger cinnamon seat and it's held up fairly well. It was in rough shape to start and looks better than it did but looks nothing like TexaZ3's results! I used leatherique.

I did a post about my experience with leather world tech on my e30 seats. You wanna order matte not semi gloss mentioned above. I wouldn’t bother with the crack filler. It will Recrack over time and look just as bad. Just sand and redye is my suggestion

                            here are my pics

Anyone do this and have a loose thread on one of the bolsters? I want to do mine but I have a thread pulling out, and am not sure how to fix that,
