The old forum was mostly terrible outside nostalgia. Why? Because most members didn't have the slightest clue what they were talking about, myself included, although I came near its demise. So much absolute crap information. Thirty page threads on nothing. Or illuminated door sills.
I remember that one dude (braymond or whatever the f$$$ his name was) who got really upset about leatherique and our leather seats. Like a thirty page thread on why it was bad. I think he ran the other competing forum (mforum) when the old forum went under. Although in fairness, he did seem to know what he was doing, but he like many other early members were absolute assholes.
This forum, IMO, is much better. The members have matured along with the platform and whatever information was lost has mostly been restored. Also, the vast amounts of useless information aren't around to pollute the search results.
I can totally understand wanting some old build threads back.2003 | 3.91 | CMP Subframe & RTAB Bushings | SMG (Relocated & Rebuilt) | ESS Gen 3 Supercharger | Redish | Beisan | GC Coilovers & ARCAs | Imola Interior | RE Rasp | RE Diablo | Storm Motorwerks Paddles | Will ZCPM3 Shift Knob | Apex ARC-8 19x9, 19x9.5 | Sony XAV-AX5000 | BAVSOUND | CSL & 255 SMG Upgrades | Tiag | Vert w/Hardtop

Someone is still paying for the m3forum.net domain renewals. Presumably automated, but stillOriginally posted by Obioban View Post
Original owner (singular) has been MIA since before M3F went down, more or less presumed dead at this point.
If backups existed. he was the only person that had them.

I also agree in regard to usernames. Pretty much anyone who was either around a long time on M3F or had high status and reputation would have kept the same username here for familiarity.Original Owner - 2003 ///M3 - 6MT/LSB/Impuls/Anthracite

I'm importing threads now; so far, it's going smoothly. I was able to recover ~1 million posts, although I'm going to skip the classifieds and a few other channels. It's not complete; some threads are missing pages or just completely gone.
Anyone who wants their old posts linked to their current nam3forum account can PM me personally. I wrote a little script to fix posts after the fact, and I can do it on a one-by-one basis.Originally posted by mpower22 View PostI also agree in regard to usernames. Brett (braymond) is a good dude though. Incredibly particular and OCD when it comes to this stuff, and as a result yes can be blunt and at times abrasive. He's got a doppelgänger in the e30 community named Jordan. The vast majority of people on forums in general don't have the slightest clue what they are talking about. People like Brett and Jordan don't sugar coat things, and ultimately are passionate enough about the details that they can't help themselves from simply not responding. Personalities like that just don't have any tolerance for even mediocrity. You can't blame them.Originally posted by oceansize View PostThe old forum was mostly terrible outside nostalgia. Why? I think a lot of Brett's stuff was lost with M3F. But here are two examples of Jordan's builds. When we are talking this level of work, they can nitpick whatever the hell they want if you ask me. Leatherique really does suck, haha.
This is the place to keep everyone at R3VLimited updated on the new and different projects you're doing on your E30
This one in particular, albeit not as cool as the one above, gives a rough idea on the very first post:
***Editors Note: This should come as no surprise. If you know Jordan and his builds you know this is a brand new car. No part of this car was left untouched and restored to As-New condition. Probably better than new in many spots actually. This was a no-brainer and was just a matter of waiting until it was ready. He wouldn't talk that way in real life facing someone, so don't do it on the internet. Be polite and be nice (if you can't move on). It costs nothing.Originally posted by Bimma360 View PostPeople like Brett and Jordan don't sugar coat things, and ultimately are passionate enough about the details that they can't help themselves from simply not responding. And before you say he would talk that way in real life, you and I both know that greatly depends on who it is standing in front of them.
Class keyboard hard ass.
