Installed some rear lower SLR control arms. Chose these because it doesn't have multiple failure points like so many others. eg. welds or multiple adjustment points.
That drivers side inner bolt is an absolute b i t c h. But it can be done.

Pulled the headlights out - all new signal lamp assemblies, silver vision bulbs, new Xenons, seals, covers, and a thorough cleaning of everything in the area...

Teaching my kid how to take things apart without breaking things was the big win.

          Onto the rears next...

There is some leeway and it's easier to get it to snap shut all around when the clips are aligned in a specific way.

I do this every year and when i didn't get it to snap shut all around in the past, moisture would get into the lens when I'd wash the car. I also have ocd and YMMV.
Having just done this yesterday - it took my son and I working together to snap them shut, I would two hand squeeze the lens cover / body and he would then thumb down the snaps individually. Agree though, I read through as much of these notes are possible pre swap, and assumed this was going to take two.

I just did the outer gasket recently, mine were crumbling apart and sticky, although I cracked the trim under the headlights, I always seem to have trouble trying to remove them.... Luckily it was only on the side where the metal bracket hooks in, and I can probably just JB weld it, but it seems to get stuck every single time I try to remove them. Don't know how I missed the inner gasket, although I may get around to that later if I ever need to replace the bulbs instead as I don't particularly want to remove them again haha.

moved the chains on the interior project. have spent the last few weeks cleaning up the manual (sedan) rails i secured from SkunkWorks - got the mounts from speed engineering on here and after a few visits to the local junkyard i believe i have the necessary connectors in place to retain factory heating for the recaro pole positions going in here. Fun lil project so far. and one pic of the car for good measure! 3 years of progress but this baby is fit as a fiddle. boy oh boy would i love to just do this all day and not work!

I'm in the process of converting my wife's E46 M3 to an 8HP45 transmission. Most everything is already sorted out, just need the custom driveshaft made. I'm documenting this on my IG if anyone is interested: NeedyM3

Is Koyo the preferred aftermarket upgrade? I know Mishimoto and CSF are alternatives but heard that Mishimoto went downhill in quality and mixed reports about CSF regarding cooling capability and also the more "involved" refill procedure.

Well at half the price of Zionsville I thought to give it a go.

I went with KOYO as well and it has been good to me. The welds looked good, it had not plastic to worry about, and the fitment was great

With the 8HP45 you just need to slot the top 2 bellhousing holes for it to bolt onto the S54 block. The rest is factory BMW parts that bolt on.

I just spent 4 hours removing all the RTV from the oil pan bolts in my car, and now need to tap all the holes to remove the RTV that remains, and that'll hopefully end this RTV saga I've been dealing with while replacing my rod bolts.

What's not pictured is all the RTV I scraped off the outside of the oil pan trying to remove it, or the RTV that was on the gasket, oil pan, a little on the pickup tube, etc.

Side note: Does anyone know if it's ok to just re-use the bolts as they are, since chasing the threads ended up removing some of the zinc coating on most of the bolts. I was thinking of using blue Loctite as a barrier, but am open to other opinions if they are easy enough.
