I'm about to put my SGT unresonated section2 xpipe for sale if you're interested, excellent condition and the sound was awesome. FYI- I’m not above modding purely to get the right sound... it’s awfully hard jumping back and forth between the sound of a Ducati with full Termi exhaust and this m3...

Has anyone had clearance issues with the SS Sec. 2 (Or SG..) comming too close to the output shaft/flange on the differential?
I would imagine these single pipe designs do not re-use the OE heatshield and may gain some clearance simply because they are smaller as well.

After installing SSv1 headers/Catted. Sec 1 my OE section 2 heatshield was touching the differential, not a good scenario.

I removed the factory heatshield and put some washers above the exhaust hanger plate/reinforcement plate (the 2 small black rectangle plates) and this helped bring Sec. 2 down to where it won't make contact with the diff.

I see that the SS dual pipe comes with spacers for the 2 rectangular plates but I would assume the single pipe does not, but please correct me if I am wrong.

I am always interested on which way to go on Sec. 2, for now stock seems best. Another SS piece is always fun though, I would almost like to try the un-resonated single pipe to see how it's sounds with my cats, I don't mind a little noise, until I do.

I"ll be installing this SS section 2 tonight (hopefully)... it's being mated up to fabspeed headers, modified OE section 1 w/ cats, and an aftermarket back box- so not the exact same variables as you, but I'll report back on fitment issues here afterword!

Just to add another data point, I went to a body shop to get some work done and after speaking with the guy there he said sg trunks were one of the better fitting trunks aside from oem. I was surprised. He owned a few e46's and had a couple in the shop so they werent new at this. That said, I still wouldnt go to them for the trunk. Not with mile end and slonik in the works.

SG started out by selling generic fiberglass and cf csl trunks, but then they bought the Scorza CSL trunk molds in addition to their exhaust design. so (at least for a little while) they were cranking out some quality products until their supply chain (and management of it) took a dump.

Yeah, just did 75-ish miles. I feel zero difference in power, although I'm sure there's something +/-, but I think I got the sound of the car right where I want it now. It really mellowed the metallic rasp and allowed for more equal volume, heard from the drivers seat, between the exhaust set up and the eventuri intake. It's a nice day and I wanted to keep going, but alas, there is work to do before the weekend still.

Would not give mike another dollar even if he had the best sounding or fitting products out there. I'd rather stay stock than own any status garbage parts. At some point it all becomes personal.

ALL supersprint products besides V1 headers/sect 1 will mate to all stock parts and most aftermarket. The weird connections are from borla, corsa, and magnaflow as far as I know.

Has the tone changes any over time now? Are you still happy with it? I'm contemplating on replacing my stock section 2 with the SS x resonated pipe. I lost some power when I added an AR20 into my section 1, so I'm a bit worried this will lose me even more power in search of a better exhaust note.

Circa Surviven hey sorry for the late response! I’m still very happy with it. My car is a vert- I think the rasp is more audible from the driver seat than a coupe due to lack of sound deadening. It’s subjective but really bothered me due to sounding like something was broken/loose after the headers install. This SS resonated section 2 went a long way in alleviating it, although still some very pronounced rasp for a window between 2.5 and 3k rpm. I notice no loss in power, although I’m not usually at the limit of driving this car. Just some spirited pushes around the country side here, on ramps, etc… I’d buy it again.
