    Looks great!

I've always wondered what that thing that looks like a fan mount on the CS is. It's like they planned to offer ventilation, but, as far as I can tell, they never did.

Need to scan and 3D print some trim for the switch panel

      Thanks!

I'm 99% sure you're right. Seems like sort of a funny idea but sure why not!

Now to remove them for powder coat and drop the steering column another half inch

After heinzboehmer’s experience, I replaced the throttle body pull rods today. Can’t say I noticed anything major, maybe a bit easier to nail downshifts. It’s certainly not worse, and there was definitely a little bit of slack in the 200k mile ones they replaced.

Also that job is a pain with the airbox still attached. Next time I’m in there I’ll have to remove the old pull rod that I dropped.

You did it with the airbox still installed? Impressive.

I had mine off and cylinder 6 was still a pain.

Damn...I pulled the ITBs off. I was thinking that was easier than trying to mess with it on the car.

Honestly cylinder 6 was one of the easier ones, just did it from the passenger side. 4 and 5 were the worst.

Did the plastic guide not get in the way? I didn't even try with it in place, but you can't unbolt it with the airbox still on.

Sorta - it was easy to lever off against the TB, then I put butyl rope on a 1/4 extension to install it, clipped it to the TB with needle nose pliers, then levered the lower clip onto the TB. Honestly not too bad.

Yep, pretty much the same technique I used.

What did it go for? That is a risky one!

To me, hydrolocked = flood car. Especially in that area with recent floods. As long as water didn't get inside the car then I think it might not be too bad. But wheel bearings, brakes...anything that moves under the car is likely rusted to shit on a car that has likely been sitting.

We managed to sleuth down the previous owner to verify it was a short 5 minute or less situation where he drove into a flash flood and sucked water into the engine. Nothing made it into the car, it was dry minutes later and it happened in the last few months. All in it looked like a pretty safe bet for a deal.

Alas, it sold for north of 115k! Absolutely crazy for a car that needs a motor and will end up with a salvaged title. And it didn’t even sell with the matching hardtop.

Is it an Alpina? These Z8s are pieces of junk and are not a very good performance car. I'd be shocked someone would pay that for a salvage title Z8.
