installation was really easy. sound quality is awesome! missed to order the tcu cable. link from the email isn't working any longer. will there be a possibility to just order one tcu adapter?

    here some pictures:

Don't worry about it! It was my fault.

Glad you got the unit and customs didn't hound you -- I put a $20 value on it, hoping it fell under the 20 EUR customs fee minimums.

Glad sound quality is good too -- if you want to order a TCU adapter, go here: https://www.bluebus.dev/orders/checkout

Set "Units" to 0, then click "Add Telephone Adapter".

    Thanks!

I highly recommend the OE microphones with these part numbers: 84318380338 and 84318380319.

AVOID: 84316938762. It implements a much higher gain pre-amplifier which sometimes interferes with the BlueBus's echo cancellation algorithm and allows the caller to hear themselves over your speakers.

I'm not too sure what the difference between 338 and 319 are, honestly

            Thanks!

Hey Ted, when are the tcu cables going to ship (I pre-ordered one when you first sent the email)? I haven't had a chance to install it in my car, but I can't wait.

                Liam,

Three to four weeks from now. Both are still being manufactured.

The BlueBus will work fine as is, minus calling

                Thanks!

Hi Ted, sorry if this has been asked before, but I have a stupid question: How do I know if I have a factory mic option in my car? If my car has this from the VIN:
S639A Preparation F Mobile Phone Cpl USACDN
Does that mean I have a mic and I can use it for the BlueBus?

                    Thanks,

                      Jowo,

Not a dumb question! YES -- You have the factory TCU package, so your vehicle (which likely has BMW Assist, right?) will have a microphone already installed, unless some asshole P/O removed it

                      Thanks!

I'm just finishing up replacing the dash/hvac/interior so before I got too far I just wanted to make sure everything was plugged in ok and working, so I put a battery in a turned the key. The bluebus came online perfectly, I was able to pair my phone, but I don't actually have any audio. The CD player / radio play music just fine. The audio controls (skip/back/pause/play) all work normally in the bluebus. I can hear a hiss moving around in the menu. I tried the DSP to analog/digital but it made no difference.

My car has factory navigation. There is I think a ULF module at the top in the trunk with a single digital cable plugged in with two empty plugs (see pictures below) which I assume is the factory bluetooth computer, can this be just unplugged? I'm pretty sure the bluebus plugged into the cd charger cable.

Any ideas? Here are some pictures...

I found this cable in the back, but its a male digital plug and a 3-pin connector. I assume this is not the correct cable

I found this cable just hanging by itself, its a female. If I remove the plastic connector it would slide into the bluebus

This is the cable I used, I assume this is the cd charger cable. I am able to communicate with the bluebus via the headunit with this cable, but no audio

                          Liam,

This one is pretty easy to diagnose just based on the images you posted. For what it's worth, no E46 ever got the DSP amplifier, so that option is moot.

In the image below, "A" is the 6 pin connector that carries audio to your BM53 radio. "B" is the other end of the same cable, which should be plugged into your BM53.

This is how it looks when properly inserted in the BM quadlock:

That should get your audio going

You're correct that this is the factory TCU (your car has BMW assist, I assume):

The cables you found are the coaxial cables for the Cell antenna and the BT antenna (but your car doesn't have the BT-enabled TCU, so that's why it's hanging around).

Remove the TCU and mount the BlueBus in its tray. That's how I designed the case to work

                          Thanks!
                          -Ted

Thanks Ted. So just to confirm, I will not need to order the TCU adapter?

That depends. Are you comfortable de-pinning the TCU connector in the car? If so, then no, you don't need anything but the free "de-pin" connector. The TCU adapter exists to make installing the BlueBus into a car with factory telephony prep "plug and play". If the car didn't have the telephone package or the prep, it would be a complete no-go.

                              Thanks!

Thanks, Ted, that would probably be the problem. I'll get that plugged in and give it another go. Thanks for the help! I'm not sure how I missed that.
