The price is going up because oil companies are greedy and are using the false narrative of inflation is because of govt spending, when in fact, it is because of covid, lack of labor, and drought/flooding. Greedy companies are also taking advantage of the current situation to hyper inflate their prices blaming labor and materials but are posting record profits. Which is all made possible because of monopolies and the false narrative of competition.

I don't see anything wrong with discussing disagreement and concerns with politics as long as it stays civil. This affects all aspects of our lives. It has touched on gas prices which has directly affected our hobby, so yes it has turned political. It probably has touched other areas as well, like supply chain (look at bluebus.dev, Ted's item) and getting stuff for a good price.
So it's perfectly sane to discuss how current political conditions have affected us in different ways and our dissatisfaction of current state, be it administration or whatever else.
I think it's actually worse to note care or not want to discuss this at all because it's something that affects us whether you like it or not. Nihilism is not helpful to improve the lives of everyone.
Some of us work in fields where we have more insight of the political environment and are able to point at why. There is always some level of speculation, but sharing ideas like this is what helps close loops and provide clearer picture of everything.Last edited by simonnim; 11-20-2021, 08:26 AM.

I'm thinking I'm going to sell the M3 wagon and go back to DDing the M3 coupe this coming spring. I bought the wagon to keep the coupe nice, but there's no reason to keep it nice for a future where I can't drive it.
So, going to enjoy the next ~decade, where DDing an ICEV is still viable, and then... it'll probably just become a track car only (assuming that will be viable for longer).

There will come a day when "driving" will be something you do for pleasure on a dedicated track in an ICE car of your choice from decades ago. Hopefully that is where the line is drawn. I fear the day when they come after our ICE cars too.2005 Phoenix Yellow M3 Coupe 6spd

For DD, EV is unquestionably better so not all bad but I am sad and it does just suck, I wish the EV "revolution" didn't happen for another 20 years. I mean just getting up and jumping in a cool car for coffee on a Saturday morning is such a reward at the end of the week, will an electric M3 provide the same thrill? Perhaps. Will it even exist, perhaps not. I haven't owned many cool cars at all and by the time I'll be in a position to even think about something like a GT3 (or at least cycle through a few more great ICE cars), they will be long gone or cost an obscene amount of money and I'll probably never get to own one as I watch that dream being ripped away. Not to mention I can't think of a cooler more attainable hobby with half the thrills as fun cars provide. I suppose we will need to find one but what? Metaverse?
Fortunately, fuel shouldn't be an issue with alcohol conversion/lp etc (just go fill up at the local lowes lol).
In the end, guess we should all be happy BMW M did what they did in our time, does it really get any better than an S54/S65/S85 anyway? God bless BMW M haha.

Jay Leno put it best, look at equestrian sports to see what will become of ICE vehicles. Horses used to be mass transportation, used as an ends to a means, and it was awful for them. people owned horses out of necessity and didn't care for them properly. you used to see them dead on the street and nobody cared. now the only time you see them is on trails, parades, and racetracks where they are thoroughly enjoyed by their owners.
the only thing i find weird about the transition to EVs as mass transportation is seeing what was once a pretty common hobby turn into a fringe interest.
- the upcoming subayota BZX4/Solterra comes with a power button instead of an engine start/ignition switch
- tech reviewers like MBHKD are being given first rights to review new vehicles by the big manufacturers instead of dedicated car publications
- in 20 years, 2000s era cars will probably be considered death traps (prehistoric crash/safety features)

What are people's thoughts on Toyota holding on to HFC (hydrogen fuel cells)? Emits water, potentially not as "full lifecycle" impactful as an EV car because you're not plugged into a power grid using coal as the power source, etc.
I used to follow this topic more closely when the arguments that a Hummer H2 was more environmentally friendly than a Prius - the whole cradle-to-grave argument and mining for precious metals and so forth, but my information is admittedly dated at this point.
So my question is genuine, I'm curious.Build thread: Topaz Blue to Shark Blue
