So it's $550 up front plus $250 back for the core, so $300 total all said and done.

Yeah for sure. I was just using that as a comparison. With shipping (no shipping from ecs, etc.) the tainik SMG wheel is 1015 which even further illustrates how wacky their prices are in instances.

My OE alcantara wheel I bought earlier this year is already starting to pull apart a little at the stitching on the right thumb grip. Couple Autocross, couple track days, and driving to and from each is about all I’ve used the car for. Hopefully BMW will cover it with their two year parts warranty whenever I feel like taking it in. Don’t assume OE is necessarily better than some of the wraps.

Its not, its crap - especially their ZCP wheels - quality-wise. But it looks better than most wraps.

Yes actually, lol. I do wear driving gloves for driving events which is really the only use the car sees, so I can throw that back at them if they try to pull that!

Didn't know their Alcantara wheels were this crap but I will say I've been far more impressed with their leather wheels than aftermarket wraps.

Honestly alcantara wheels are for track only in my mind. I am basing that on a bunch of press cars I've driven with them, not once did I think it was appropriate for street driving.

I actually have it on my E36 (spare stock wheel re-wrap by Coby), and its great.





Though, I don't really DD it, but at least when I do, I can touch it after the car sits in Texas heat.

I used my alcantara wheel every day for almost ten years, can't go back to leather unless luxury car.

It's highly subjective, I know a lot of people love them.

One month update: im still happy with my Coby wheel. It feels good in your hands. It might be thicker, its tough for me to compare because my original was so old. But it was worth every penny and i cant think of a reason to have picked one of the ebay wheels over it. Just my opinion though

My 14 year old zcp wheel is marvelous, perhaps quality has changed or new supplier. I will probably order a new one at some point as a backup and compare.
