This is what holds me back from listing a car on BaT, lol, I get it 100%.

When these cars were new I hated the 19s and preferred the 18s but as they have aged I think the 19s look so good especially on LSB.

So... are the seat covers no longer manufactured, such that the car isn't worth reupholstering them?

And does this mean replacing our seat covers is a matter of if, not when? I think I know the answer to that one.

what's your guys' opinion on what a high mileage, but fully CSL'd (all authentic parts) build could fetch these days?

Why don't the friend give the mileage? That matters, a lot. Then color and then overall condition. You know this. SMG or manual since it is isn't a real CSL?

            148k, 6spd converted, 05 IB ZCP

every CSL part that was made is on it minus the seats, exhaust valves, kingpins, LCAs, and glass

subframe reinforced, VANOS blessed with the beisan catalog, rod bearings not done (blackstone reports keep indicating they're not ready to be replaced)

The average for a manual coupe with similar mileage in a less common color is roughly $22k to $25k. However there is an outlier. A 2001 LSB (with grey interior) that sold for $50k. Another outlier in the same color and ZCP is this one. 2005 IB ZCP with 135,000 miles that sold for $33k in September of 2021.

I'll let the owner draw their own conclusions as in the end the car will need an enthusiast buyer not scared away by the manual conversion and mileage. Potential buyers will need to understand the parts/cost involved as well. The car's overall condition is going to play a dramatic role in what someone is willing to pay. Premium pricing will demand the car be in excellent condition given it's mileage.

You'll end up much further ahead if you take the time to part it out and revert to stock, IMO.

PM me if you decide to part out - I'm looking for an OEM IB bootlid.

Obsessing over details, replacing perfectly good parts just because they have scratches/dings on them. buying only/mostly OE parts, etc - you know the craziness when you see it, lol. I was more disappointed people didn't recognize that in my listing - but I guess that is BaT for you, lol.
Jeez, I wish I would have bought it at hammer price.... Selling off all the toy Toyotas currently and that would have made a most excellent daily driver that the wife could utilize in a pinch...I hope the new owner enjoys it, he got a great buy on that, but it's just play money anyways, on to the next, that LSB is going to fit REALLY well in your garage lineup

Coming out of the woodworks, unmodified... (Jersey car though)

Would be really surprised if it gets to the same price it sold for prior. Lots o rust and deferred maintenance on this thing.

Indeed... it's like they replaced the cup holder, looked at the rest and said "Aw fuk it."

How much has the market changed with respect to low mileage cars? This is the same car at BAT. The man who sold at $91k feeling pretty good about himself.

                            November of 2021 = $91,000

                            August of 2023 = Bid to $65,500

Yeah... people's profit expectations are way out of whack and very slow to adjust... but the market is trying... https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2005-bmw-m3-88/

As I eyeball this (similar to oceansize example) -- by looking at BaT Results, Reserve Not Met, on cars I Watch -- I'm seeing about a 1/3 haircut, more or less across the board. That is, cars being "Bid To" numbers that are at least 1/3 less than what they were selling for just a year ago.

I don't think BaT has ever been a great gauge of the true value. It's only one over-exposed platform. Surely they have all come down, but that was over paid in the first place. I mean seriously, you can get a nice Ferrari for that money. Like a 348.

I remember several high mileage U.S. spec e36 m3s selling for 30 and 40g, I mean over 100k miles and not perfect in any stretch of the imagination. It was ridiculous then and it certainly is now. These one-off results are not indicative of much.
