Crazy price for sure.... simply because the carfax aint clean. I don't care how minor the damage but at that price point I want a clean carfax/autocheck to go with it. Some of these buyers are desperate

This one could’ve gone either way.
One way: Last year of production, low miles, former EAG car.
Another way: Prior damage, Incorrect wheels, misaligned bumper, lots of owners.

I think it went the “one way” option.

BATshit crazy price market, with the exception of the $80K LSB mostly goes for the stock, unmodified e46 which to me seems kind of boring and signals a potential first time e46 owner. Or a flipper.

I was sure that having watched the auction for a TV (my favorite color) e46 last year, it would be someone’s forever car, but it’s back...

Bid for the chance to own a Techno Violet 2004 BMW M3 at auction with Bring a Trailer, the home of the best vintage and classic cars online. Lot #38,834.

For sure someone thinks they can turn a profit. Should be fun to watch. Regrettably I’m not cool enough to pull off techno violet.

I’d like to see one in the wild to see how the color really looks.

What I'm really curious about is what that LSB would have gone for bone stock. We all hear the same thing several times over...."mods don't add value to the car." I feel the mods sold that car.

Ahhhh Techno Violet. God I love that color on that car (minus the sunroof and nav). $27K for the previous auction + $1350 bat fee + approximately $1500 - $2000 to ship across country + $1000 or so in service = ~$31k-ish? Dunno, may be a $34K car at the end of the day this time around. Certainly still some buzz around that car.

There are always exceptions to the rule, and that was one with the right car and the right buyer(s) in the right room at the right time. That rule still 100% holds.

BAT is a frustrating to deal with. My car was “accepted” in September. On Oct 1st, I was told 2 weeks. Last Thursday I was told 24 hours. I’m still waiting.

Hoping it’s worth it in the end. I had an ad up and they said I had to take it down once the car was accepted. That was 5 weeks ago.

It should be an interesting experience either way. At least I have a reserve and it’s not the end of the world for me if it doesn’t sell. E46 M3s do seem to be doing well on there lately.

I think that LSB only did so well because it was purchased by an enthusiast. If my car ever goes up for sale, it is too modified for the ‘bat elite’. This place allowed for me to make educated mod decisions, so I ended up with TCK DAs, brembos, supersprint, etc... If I ever sell this car, I hope it goes to someone that appreciates all the mods.

Putting it back to stock is your best bet. Not only will your car's value go up, you can make money back on parts too.

This Techno Violet seems like such a bespoke car, a unicorn . . . I'd love to have it

Just saw that your auction went live today. Damage is a little scary but it has all the maintenance and super high-quality mods. If it doesn't sell I'd seriously consider making an offer. But who am I kidding, these cars always sell when BAT is involved-- the market is super hot right now unfortunately for my wallet.

Thanks for the kind words. The prior accident obviously isn’t ideal. The car looks really good in person and it was a quality repair which is why I still bought the car. I understand that it will scare some people off, but hopefully someone will understand and appreciate the car for what it is. We’ll see what happens with the auction and after.
