    Help identifying Brembo calipers?

I found a used pair of calipers locally. Wondering if anyone can tell me if these will fit the E46 M3 and what adapters I might have to get. Thank you.

Dang those bad boys look like they got used properly . There are some extensive threads on these conversions, im not sure about those calipers you have, but here are the threads that have all the info, parts #s ,rebuilding DIY, install etc..

Those are GT1/F40/F50 style Brembo calipers. To really know if they'll work correctly you need to measure the pistons and do some math to calculator the brake balance. As for brackets, I'd measure the bolt mount spacing and then see what might work. Most likely you'll have to get something custom made. The Vagbremtechnic Aston brackets are about 185mm, I'm not sure what the spacing is on Stoptech or a real Brembo GT kit is.

You can get brand new Brembos off an Aston Martin for under $400 a side - which after you buy those and rebuild/repaint I bet you're going to be close to the same cost. And using the Vagbremtechnic brackets it all just bolts up.

Wait what? Where you find that for $400?

Thank you so much. I think I'll pass on these and then get something like you suggested where the solution is clearer in sourcing the whole thing.

You can get them frmo Scuderia Car Parts USA which is a US importer of Aston, Ferrari, Lamborghini, etc parts. You can get them, brand new, in yellow, red, black, grey, and silver. They are direct from Aston and include the two brake pad pinch hardware and spring plate.

Make sure to select a right and left caliper. I paid $394/each plus shipping and duties. Came out to about $975. I was going to get them used, but after shipping, I was looking at $600-800 and then would most likely have to replace all the seals and have them repainted. So it was a wash. I'm not sure keen on the Aston Martin logo...I wanted them to say Brembo, but I'll deal with that at a later date. The calipers are also used on the V8 Vantage as well as the DB9, also the Audi TTRS 8J model or RS3 8P model (but you will have to flip the calipers since they are reversed from Audi).

You can also buy them from Vagbremtechnic (the place you buy the brackets from) and they come out to about the same price, although shipping might be a bit more. But they'll do custom colors and logos if you want.

For the money, I think this kit is hard to beat. With new CSL/ZCP rotors & pads (from FCP with a lifetime warranty), you're looking at under $1500 all in. The Aston calipers have the same piston size as the older $4000 Brembo 355mm 4-pot setup for the e46m3 and you don't have to machine the calipers like you do with the Porsche. They also look better, IMHO.

Oh damn, I've never seen/considered this option, this seems perfect for me since I'm already running CSL rotors/pads from FCP and was putting off even thinking of upgrading calipers because I'm too busy to actively try and source used 996 calipers and go through the whole rigamaroll of rebuilding and repainting them etc.

Only thing is I run stock staggered 18s, so, I would need spacers, apparently at least 12mm. I've been told to avoid spacers if possible, is 12mm something I should be concerned about? Or is getting the calipers machined to avoid spacers a reasonable option in that case?

I run spacers, as do a bunch of us here, and have never had a problem. I would convert to using studs instead of long wheel bolts if you do - they're much stronger and safer. I just replaced my studs on my car with new ones and ended up picking Motorsports Hardware https://motorsporthardware.com/

I run a 12mm spacer in the front and a 10mm in the rear on OEM ZCP wheels.

Awesome. I'll be doing custom painted DB9 calipers this summer then -- can't say no to something that cheap and easy. Thanks, Liam!

Those are GT F40 calipers. They don't look like F50's just due to size. You can buy brackets directly from Brembo or Race Technologies. I'd measure the pistons because they look like rears.
