Nice! I was expecting a fireball to shoot out the exhaust

How many miles on the engine?

About 101k miles on the motor, not the original. 8k old plugs, sensors, and stuff. Only thing relatively new are the cam sensors.

It used with the Evolve tune and the Martyn ECU tool but I think the PCS tune eliminated that.

[Slideways]

325whp/257tq

Megan headers (swaintech coated)
BW race with straight section 2
Injen intake
Paul Claude tune

I’m really surprised, was expecting lower. This kicks me out of NASA TT4. This actually kind of screws me because I setup the car with ballast. Now I need to un-setup the car.

Probably can get more since the car was on the edge of overheating.

How did the dyno session go?

Badly. Wasn't able to get any good charts because had a spark issue and the car misfired on the dyno. Went home and put in new coils and plugs, car runs super strong and smooth. HTE says the tune is done and no need to touch it up so I guess I have to schedule another hour of dyno time if we want meaningful numbers.

Honestly, I am pretty disappointed and this is why I told someone else in another thread to ALWAYS do coils and plugs before a dyno day/tune. I would like to go back but feel like HTE should continue tuning it. Anri said that perhaps HTE loaded up a full power tune and it's at 100%.

I also would like to Dragy the car and get 60-130 info + 1/4 mile trap speed to see where it's at.

Dyno day tomorrow. This build has taken me over a year and a half since my last dyno. Feels like forever.

Here's what I did to prepare:

New o2 sensors
Full valve job
ICV cleaned

Crossing my fingers for good results and more power over the street tune we just did. Car feels really good, feels as fast or faster than my E90 M3 slicktop with lightweight wheels, intake, exhaust and E85 tune (cats still on it). Should be coldish too, 50-60F.

How did the dyno session go?

[OldRanger]

Hopped on the dyno for some tuning. 2005 with 167K or so on the clock. Every engine sensor, VANOS rebuild, Valve adjustment, fuel pump, filter and regulator over the past year or so. New OE coils and plugs and upstream O2s were the final touch.

• Turner CSL Style Intake with IAT in plenum
• Megan Racing Headers
• OEM Section 1 and 2
• SS Race Muffler
• Epic
• 93 Octane
• OEM 19’s and 3.62 gears

Weather was 28F and dry. So cold, we didn’t want to deal with fans adding air pressure at the intake.

SAE smoothing: 313hp @ 8,200; torque was 243 at 5,200

Driveability is as good or better than stock, even partial throttle.

30 HP from headers and a tune is solid. Just picked up a set of Megans.

Indeed. For ~$800, these motors can pick up ~11% more HP. On a dollar/HP basis, catless headers and a tune are probably the most cost-efficient mods for increasing power.

I think I previously posted these files on M3forum but don't see my dyno graphs on this forum.

Stock motor on 7-19-2019. This was my baseline. Mileage: 164,439.

Modified motor on 7-10-20. Mods include Megan catless headers, 200 cell cats, and an HTE tune. Mileage: 167,202.

appreciate the feedback. a little surprised since randy did this tune. he's pretty on point.

Just going by the data plot above. I have the same (with flap) mods, it’s not trivial to tune out the resonances. Here’s what my AFRs look like after DIY wideband tuning. Just data points from a couple WOT logs, no smoothing or anything to make the curves pretty

[MarcoPolo]

Looks like you need a little more fuel pretty much everywhere and you need to tune your AFRs very much below 3500rpm to protect your new motor. In about 600 rpm, you’re swinging from 12.5 - 15.5, this isn’t a great tune for your mods

New engine as my old block cracked. Dyno was after about 500 miles of breaking in.

324hp & 254tq on a Dynojet with 93 fuel and temps in the 40's/50's

Mods
- Stock compression forged mahle pistons
- rebuilt head
- Karbonius Race Airbox
- SS V1, SS Catted Section 1, OEM/Stock Section 2, SS Sport Muffler
- Epic Tune

Curious on people's thoughts on how this looks.
