I did it with jack stands too. Adding pics to show what heinzboehmer was trying to say, I believe.

Also, it's good idea to keep the rear wheels under the car while you're banging away at stuff. If the car happens to fall (shouldn't be an issue if you have it supported correctly), the wheels will stop the car from pancaking you.

Thank you gentlemen for saving me some coin. On another note what welding process did you guys use. I have a flux core welder…. But I’m worried it’ll burn through. It’ll also do mig but I don’t have the gas for it. I’m an Ironworker so I’m used to welding with flux core and stick

Best would be MIG welding. Sheet metal is 20gauge so can’t get too much heat.

I did it in the past with a Miller Maxstar 150STL TIG welder and it was a PITA vs MIG.

I did mine using the quickjack. I get the complaints about side access, and for a job where you are going to have her in the air for a long while then the hassle of getting it up high enough on jack stands is no big deal.

The quickjack is nice when you want to get her up, well, quick. It was not a problem to get the subframe out with it on the quickjack.

If you are concerned about welding there is always the option of Vince Skinz (rivet and epoxy).

I did a complete RACP replacement on jack stands. it was a PITA but doable. I now have a quick jack and would not hesitate to use it for the job. Just get used to lying on your back and side a lot! A creeper makes a big difference. One thing I did that made life a bit easier was build a cart big enough to support the entire rear subframe. It was 2x4's and cheap HD casters, maybe $25 in the entire thing. It made life so much easier moving the subframe around after is was dropped. Also, do whatever bushings in the subframe assembly you think you will ever need to do. Now is the time. I regret skipping a few.

As for the welding, makes sure everything is CLEAN. When you think you have ground and wire wheeled everything, do it again. Just take your time.
