the sound that airbox makes might be one of the best sounds in the game imho. Just so pure. Takes all the qualities we love about that S54 and just makes it better.Originally posted by Ramo View PostWhatโs the better route to go? I did airbox first for a couple reasons. First and most important sound. Also, with the airbox I can run a CSL tune whereas with a full exhaust I would need a dyno tune for it to make sense. Decided to run the CSL tune until I get a full exhaust/cams and then get a dyno tune, instead of doing exhaust, dyno tune, airbox, dyno tune.Originally posted by Ramo View PostWhatโs the better route to go? Or you could buy member Good SSv1 catted with HJS for a big discount over newOriginally posted by ATB88 View Post
Or custom, which seems like a good way to go if you want an affordable way to do run SSV1 with cats. Have been thinking about getting the catless V1 pipes and just having someone weld in some decent quality cats to save $1000 over the SS catted sec1.

Using these makes removal/installation of the throttle body side clamps EASY as hell.Originally posted by COVID-19 View Post

You could even re-use the clamps if you are careful.
The airbox side clamps are slightly harder to install, to remove just use a small flat screwdriver and pry it apart and off.
Get this tool to install the OE style clamps airbox side:
You'll be glad you did OE style clampa in the end, trust me. I had never used these tools/clamps before and I was fine. Take photos before disassembly so you have a reference where the clamps lock up at etc.2004 Silbergrau Metallic 6MT

Original intention was naturally aspirated since the focus on the original M3forum was on the naturally aspirated M3s. Now it doesn't really mean anything, and the intention is to make m3forum.us the primary domain. And the .us isn't to signify that only Americans are welcome, but that the forum is based here.Originally posted by r4dr View Post

I've used regular needle nose pliers on the stock clamps numerous times and have never had an issue. Can get all six off in a couple minutes.Originally posted by COVID-19 View Post

I just did the Karbonius box and OEM flap at 130k. As everyone else has said, no drawbacks or concerns as long as your S54 has been properly maintained.
I was previously hesitant given the cost, but the noise is just unbelievable. The flap adds to the drama but isn't necessary.
As far as the headers debate, I'll leave that to others, I have the OE Euro headers, stock section 1 with an AR25 welded in and no cats. It made 322whp and 236wtq on a Mustang dyno, tuned by Kassel (@ their shop).
Stan's made 325whp and the same wtq with ARH headers on the same dyno. We both had our engines built by Matt Coyne with almost identical specs except I didn't get my head ported.
Mods:
Karbonius CSL Airbox with OEM Flap and Kassel DME
OEM Euro Headers, Dinan Section 3
BMW Motorsport 4.10 R&P w/ rebuilt E39 M5 LSD
CMP Stage 2 RACP reinforcement
Solid Aluminum Rear Subframe Mounts, Poly RTABs and FCABs
APEX ARC-8's

Any emission readiness issue in Maryland with the airbox?
And since you have mentioned Kassel, I presume you went MAP route?
Thanks!
