    HK/nav radio/multi-function wheel connection

Plenty of threads on various aspects of some things working and not working, but I have a specific case which doesn't seem to have been covered. I have a nav system with H/K. Everything works, with the exception of the multi-function buttons on the steering wheel. My car is a ZCP and it came with a ZCP wheel (just the 'I/O' button on upper trim), and an aux kit the previous owner installed. Early on, the I/O button and the horn worked on the wheel, but since replacing the steering wheel (wanted a rewrapped wheel as the ZCP wheel's alcantara has morphed to the 'hairless molerat' state), only the horn works.

I've replaced the upper trim with another multi-function model, slip ring, and added Bluebus in the past month (Bluebus is awesome btw... the basics really are all you need: AD2P music, the ibus changes - blinker settings and unlock functions)... the second multi-function trim didn't help, nor did the slip ring. But throughout the 'testing,' the constant is the horn function, which remains functional, but nothing else on the multi-function set. (the I/O button no longer works either since swapping out the wheel) I assume a connection from the headunit to the steering wheel has been changed in the past, but pinging for some feedback before I take on the task of opening up the dash area to test the wiring.

ZCP doesn’t have the wiring for multifunction. There is a part to retrofit cruise control that also lets you control the radio, and then you can use something like an e39 wiper stalk to have the ZCP button.

    The part is 61120016012

Well, there you have it... I didn't realize the wiring connections weren't there to start with (for multi-function controls). The connections seem to all be there, which was the source of confusion. Thanks for the insight and the part number share.

I also have a 2006 ZCP and I would like to install all of the multifunction controls on the steering wheel. Thank you for the part number for for the wiring connector, which I did not realize was needed, but could anyone provide the part number for the E39 wiper stalk? And will this stalk install without any modifications or coding? Thank you.

The stalk itself is plug and play, but you will need to look at the plug on your original stalk and the e39 stalk and see where the extra pin is, and take the wire that was going to your steering wheel button and move it to the wiper stalk plug.

Yesterday I started replacing the ZCP steering wheel. I have the multifunction buttons, E39 wiper stalk and the retrofit cable. It didn't take me long to realize I had no idea about where/how to make the retrofit cable work. Are there any detailed instructions concerning the wiring connections so that the multifunction buttons will work and the track button that is on the end of the wiper stalk? I'm guessing that this is going to require a trip under the dash to access something somewhere. I'm hoping that there's a how to paper available. I appreciate any help offered.

I think that I just found what I was looking for:

Hi all, quick question. I bought a multi-button steering wheel a few years back and never wired it to work with my ZCP. I also bought an M5 stalk to have the extra button to wire in M-Track mode. There used to be directions on the old forum on how to do all of this, but that is lost. Does anyone have information on this??

                Also:

This article show a guide on how to perform BMW Multi-Function steering wheel/Cruise control retrofit. The installation time is approx. 1 hour, but this may vary [...]

Okay, I’ve gotten everything wire up according to the instructions from the above post/links, except for the wire going to the DME. I have two different choices: Pin#37 or Pin#27. The written instructions say Pin#37 but that position is already occupied. But the Pin#27 slot is empty. So I’ve put the blue/black wire into slot 27. But before it hook up the battery cable and fry something expensive I would like to have confirmation that Pin#27 is the correct choice. Or are my directions wrong.

Here's the pinout for the X60004 connector on a late SMG car:

Looks like you want pin 27. Pretty sure "Volute spring" is referring to the steering wheel clock spring.

I just wanted to reply that everything work great. All of the buttons are working as designed with no problems. And I want to thank everyone for their help.
