I'm running a Euro section 1with an extended harness as well. Also have a tune. No issues smoging the car last month.

another data point here - i passed smog with no issues recently with my rear o2s coded out using martyn's tool. stock cats and o2s are installed but i just couldn't get the cat monitors ready and was tired of trying to do the drive cycle.

This does make me wonder why we're all going through the trouble of hacking/modifying the harness to run the post-o2's? Just for completeness? Aftermarket cat wouldn't pass visual anyways so can't be that?

Yeah that's why I did it. Didn't sit right with me to leave the system half operational (even though it doesn't really make any practical difference with how I drive my car).

I think it’s combination of people wanting completeness, and it’s what everyone is used to from way back.

To me, either way you run euro cats are technically not legal because they aren’t North American factory spec, in the factory location as CA smog requires. So why go through the trouble…. But to each their own. I pass smog and that’s all that matters to me.

Yeah thanks again for chiming in with this. Saved me a lot of trouble. I actually much prefer this route if it works as it's no work to reverse back to OEM.

gabylonfive & L0okitzRaj , when you both disabled 'Rear O2 DTCs" and "Cat Efficiency DTCs" using Martyn's ECUWorx tool was the catalyst in a "Ready/OK" state right away after reflashing the DME with the new settings? Or did you have to attempt to do a drive cycle in order to get the monitors ready for SMOG?

I didn't test right after coding, but I can say with confidence it's likely the former. My guess is the tool handles some of the binary attributes to force readiness. My car had very few miles, lots of battery negative removals without any attempt to do "drive cycles".

Good to know. I just disabled the "Rear O2 DTCs" and "Cat Efficiency DTCs" turned the car off then key back to position 2. When I checked readiness it looks like all monitors were reset to INC. I'll have to do another drive cycle when I have time tomorrow to see if the Catalyst will hard set to "Ready/OK". Hopefully it does.

My car has catless headers with 200 cell high flow cats installed in section one (no O2 bungs) and I need to do the CA smog

I just passed smog with the same'ish setup(catless headers with cats in section 1). The tech even looked under my car with a mirror, lol. Did you drive try driving the car then testing readiness?

Not that I think this affects it but I also have EGT deleted and enrichment disabled all within Martyn's tool

If they don't go to ready after flashing they should do so immediately upon cold start, no drive cycle fuss required.

Cali smog is a moving target, it's gotten easier on us over the years (sniffer tests used to be required, not anymore) because there are less instances of owners getting caught doing blatantly sketchy things. thats the whole point of flying under the radar, the less bad apples there are the better off the whole community is

I run OEM CSL Headers with a catted section 1 and Scorza muffler. It passes smog with no issue.
