I figured I'd post here since this is by far the most active forum section.

The datacenter where this server is so graciously hosted is going to be doing power maintenance. During this maintenance, I will be shutting down this server and nam3forum will be completely offline. We'll be back but you'll have to wait until the following day.

Start: 5/22/2024 4:00pm PST
End: 5/23/2024 6:00am PST

Hi all! REMINDER - this is happening tonight. I won't be starting until ~9:30pm PST.

We're back!

My datacenter rescheduled the 5/22/2024 maintenance to 6/1/2024 (see the times above), but I took tonight's maintenance window opportunity to fix a hardware problem.

I ended up having to rebuild the whole server because the stupid raid card would not rebuild from a failed disk. So I swapped the card out for a new one, with new disks, and then I had to rebuild the whole server and updated all the software in the process. Let me know if anybody has any issues.

(That's our server sticking out right there on top, broken raid card on my Laptop)

Yeah, we're hosted in a colocation datacenter facility, i.e. customers rent space, it's like an apartment building for computers. I work for a company that rents about 400sq/feet of space within this data center (see the picture above) and our nam3forum server is housed with all of their servers. The data center itself is in the San Diego area and about 85,000sq/feet in size. I'm a Data/Software Engineer, but I designed our datacenter power and networking layout back in 2008 when we moved into this facility and help manage the infrastructure. I live in the Portland area, but fly down a few times a year to work down there when I need to do something hands-on. Our company has petabytes of storage and hundreds of servers and uses a tremendous amount of internet bandwidth, so hosting this server basically costs them nothing in the grand scheme of things.
