In addition to the other points, there are a lot more clutch options for the ZF 5 speed which don't cost an arm and a leg. Most popular is the E34 M5 clutch and a Sach HD pressure plate.
As far as the feel of the gearbox, a fresh ZF will be WAY better than a fresh 420g. That's one thing I noticed back in the 2000's. The ZFs are all over 20 years and maybe 30 years old so there is a lot of variance in the condition of the internals.
