    Used to be able to get a ZF for $250-$500. Now its $500-$800 which isn't terrible. Used to be able to make it essentially a no-cost swap.

    In addition to the other points, there are a lot more clutch options for the ZF 5 speed which don't cost an arm and a leg. Most popular is the E34 M5 clutch and a Sach HD pressure plate.

    As far as the feel of the gearbox, a fresh ZF will be WAY better than a fresh 420g. That's one thing I noticed back in the 2000's. The ZFs are all over 20 years and maybe 30 years old so there is a lot of variance in the condition of the internals.

        The carbon cabin filter housing would be a good weight loss opportunity. You could remove all of the rear speakers and use a nice neo mag midbass in the front doors which doesn't cost a lot and will cut some weight.

        The one good thing about carbon panels - no door dings!

          Are there any threads about the sound deadnening removal?

          I don't think I will be pulling the interior out to thin out the wiring harness, at least not yet.

          Pretty sure the door airbags are gone since the car has Hard Motorsports door panels.

                  Its been years. I remember Pioneer and Alpine making a reasonably priced mid. I used a pair of Hybrid Audio mids which were outstanding but they aren't cheap.

                        I need to reweigh my car soon. 3020lbs with 240lbs of ballast, I weigh 223, and 30l of fuel.

                        30l fuel x 1.7 lb/l = 51 lbs. 3020 - 240 - 223 - 51 = 2506lbs. I'm about the install a CF dash...so should be right at 2500lbs while slowly moving the CG rearward - 50.9% Front weight distribution.

                          Nothing too remarkable here. I assume this is what most street/track oriented cars weigh without crazy carbon everything.

                          Things that would change the weight from stock/when I got it:

                          6 Speed swap
                          Recaro Profis with Brey Krause brackets (drivers side is electric passenger is manual rail)
                          Vorsteiner CF Trunk Lid
                          SSR Wheels on 265/35R18 RS4s
                          ST40 BBK
                          MCS Shocks
                          Hotchkis Front Swaybar
                          Nardi Steering Wheel
                          Megan headers, bimmerworld street track exhaust​ (stock section 1)
                          Replica CSL Bumper
                          OE Halogen Headlights
                          Driver airbag was missing and they RTV'd over the airbag light when I got the car.
                          Bimmerworld Race Camber Arms

                          Everything else is how the car came from the factory.

                          I usually keep a jug of coolant and some quarts of atf and oil in the engine bay drug bin. I run with it on track like that, so I assume this weight is with that in there. I want to say this was half a tank, but I can't find my notes. This was with the stock airbox.
