Worth noting that 0x43F is a rebroadcast of some SMG data from the DME to other modules (the cluster and possibly DSC, I can't remember off hand). Actual communication between the DME and SMG happens on a secondary, and separate, CANbus.

It's not connected to the main CANbus. Can't remember how it does connect, there is a BMW document I've seen previously that maps it all out.Originally posted by eacmen View Post
Is the MK60 lateral acceleration sensor under the driver seat also a CAN sensor like the Steering Angle?2005 ///M3 SMG Coupe Silbergrau Metallic/CSL bucket seats/CSL airbox/CSL console/6 point RACP brace/Apex ARC-8s

Found it - Analogue signal line direct to the MK60.

The document the picture is from covers multiple chassis codes of that era. I wouldn't worry about the photo, point is the sensor is a direct analogue connection to the MK60.Originally posted by eacmen View Post
My sensor looks different. I think the sensor in that photo is on the passenger side? The is also an accelerometer under the drivers side.

The MK60 harness can operate as a standalone with power and ground. All of the sensors are direct wired.Originally posted by karter16 View Post

I thinned the MK60 harness and the only integration I have left is I am able to still pull codes from the MK60 unit somehow.

IIRC from my MK60 swap, the MK20 sensor is analog and the MK60 sensor is digital. I remember having to run extra wires for the new sensor.Originally posted by karter16 View Post
