Worth noting that 0x43F is a rebroadcast of some SMG data from the DME to other modules (the cluster and possibly DSC, I can't remember off hand). Actual communication between the DME and SMG happens on a secondary, and separate, CANbus.

It's not connected to the main CANbus. Can't remember how it does connect, there is a BMW document I've seen previously that maps it all out.

Found it - Analogue signal line direct to the MK60.

My sensor looks different. I think the sensor in that photo is on the passenger side? The is also an accelerometer under the drivers side.

The document the picture is from covers multiple chassis codes of that era. I wouldn't worry about the photo, point is the sensor is a direct analogue connection to the MK60.

The MK60 harness can operate as a standalone with power and ground. All of the sensors are direct wired.

I thinned the MK60 harness and the only integration I have left is I am able to still pull codes from the MK60 unit somehow.

IIRC from my MK60 swap, the MK20 sensor is analog and the MK60 sensor is digital. I remember having to run extra wires for the new sensor.
