Quiet Lightweight Flywheel?

That's awesome, but a custom built one probably costs more than I'm willing to spend.

I forget the brand, it was made it the UK, got it though Matt as Euroconnex. Its for my E63 M6, so not the same, but replaced a dual mass and I have zero NVH issues with it.
I *think* they make one for the M3 as well, but who knows if it will act the same.

I have a JB Racing flywheel. It sounded like marbles in a glass jar with the 420g. Mostly quiet with a ZF320 although the car has always been a tin can with the ZF320.

The rattle might have more to do with the transmission than the engine.

I run the same setup with my zf320, the 420g is a noisy box.

Dinan used to make lightened factory flywheels for the e39 M5.

Partee Racing has taken over making them for that market. Don't know if they'd be interested/able to do it for our flywheel. Will link Peter to this post....

Same. But the ACT clutch from my JDM days was much worse. For a street driven M3 the trade-off wasn't worth it to me. One day I'll go back to stock.

Unfortunately that's the way this car was designed, it's meant to have a dual mass flywheel... as soon as you go to a single mass, you're going to get chatter, it's just the nature of the beast.

My ACT is pretty decent, and there's days where it's not even loud. But, then again, there's days where it's pretty loud.

I think it depends on how hot it is, the angle the car is at, and possibly other factors.

Normal for it to chatter when you kick in clutch pedal at at low rpms 1st/2nd? Loudest for me after a bit of driving too.

Yeah exactly, it's after I've been driving for awhile, when I put in the clutch at a stoplight. I've never heard it in 2nd. I only ever hear it when I put in the clutch and I'm not moving.
