Got the VAC hub today. It is a substantial piece of engineering. Click image for larger version

Hey sorry - was at hospital this weekend - nuclear family has grown to 3 strong !! πŸ’ͺ

I told the shop that I wasn’t targeting a specific ride height and while I thought my previous Eibach/Koni setup was pretty much perfect visually, I’d be happy to make a change to make the dampers work optimally. They didn’t provide any specs but on drivers side it looks to be about 13.5” front and maybe slightly less ~13.25” rear. Seems like a very slight drop compared to old setup (below) - though the ride is vastly improved

              Ohlins R&T + Vorshlag plates

Eibach pro kit / Koni yellows (high miles 80k when changed)

Congrats on the addition to the family and thanks for the info. Looks perfect IMO.

Where are we with these VAC hubs these days? I've got a fresh new VANOS and was looking at VAC hub as an option. I can't keep up with the debates.

That is what I did, new unmodified VANOS unit with a VAC hub and is perfect.

My clutch slave cylinder decided to suddenly take a doodoo. It left me stranded at the bottom of my driveway and had to replace it on the gravel. BTW, this is only a temporary spot until my wife and I get a place with a garage.

BTB Whats the reason why you changed the Ohlins Vorshlag set up to the Eibach pro kit? are they substantially stiffer ?

As nuc1 responded - I switched from Eibach springs / Koni yellows (installed back when first taking ownership of car, 2013 / 80k miles ago) to the Ohlins. The Ohlins actually have a stronger spring rate compared to the Eibach but it’s true what they say, although it’s still a firm ride in the grand scheme of cars (I’m set to 15 clicks or 75% to full soft) it is way more compliant and absorbs bumps beautifully without upsetting the car.

Also as another tidbit, seems like this has damn near eliminated rear axle wheel hop. Because the vertical load on the tires is much more consistent the car transitions from grip to slip very smooth (also have solid subframe bushings), even in the heavy rain yesterday where typically wheel hop would come in quickly, I could hold the car with wheels just barely slipping relative to road speed. Probably not a huge surprise to everyone but just a massive transformation from how it was

nuc1 My mistake BTB I am also on the ohlins dedicated track set up with the vorshlag plates I belive they are the best before going to MCS. Ohlins is simple to set up and hassle free.
