NO OBD2 communication after CSL tune

    Hey guys
I am not to familiar with coding and tuning honestly

Ive installed my Karb. CSL intake along with HTE tune from Hassan.
Which has been running great no problems what so ever
Hassan is awesome always sticking by.

Since I just relocated to TX
I took the M3 to get an inspection
There is no communication so I can not pass inspection

I hooked up my scanner (Schwaben)
no OBD 2 features, it does read the vehicle when I scan using BMW icon
I get a question mark for the DME.

Hassan said it just needs a firmware update.
We got that done, did not work right away
drove it around next day it worked.
checked it again this morning and no communication again.

Does it need more time? I'm at a blank here
any input and knowledge will help.

Subscribed as I need to eventually get smog inspection and pending tune with Hassan.

I think this is the thread you are needing.

The CSL binaries Paffy has on the MSSFlasher website do not have all the changes necessary to play 100% nice with the non-CSL bootloader. It mostly works, but notably the ability to read error codes is broken Download a corrected program here (https://nam3forum.com/forums/filedata/fetch?id=12984) Flash only the program -

This isn’t something I can learn in a few hours

Can someone help me out using team viewer or something similar

I need to get the car inspected as soon as possible

Are you running CSL software for a MAP sensor? If not, you should ask Hassan about this. Stock software with an alpha n tune for a CSL airbox should communicate just fine with emissions computers.

If you are running CSL software, then the no communications issue is a known bug: https://nam3forum.com/forums/forum/s...o-csl-software

No real fix unless you want to go through the trouble of porting over BMW's software patch.

I am running the map sensor
So I’m guessing the software along with it

              So the alpha N tune
Would not give me this bug ? From what I’m reading

Not if it's based on the regular non-CSL firmware

                  I noticed a little trick

If I cycle the key on to off then on again

It reads the scanner and I have obd 2 communication.

                  It’s not perfect
But at this point I’m willing to live with it
