Wow! THANK YOU for going to so much effort and providing so much detail. Looks like I now have an excellent plan for the wiring portion of this project.

Because I will have my original DME upgraded to HP am I correct that I will NOT need the EWS delete and that the VIN in the DME will remain matched to my vehicle?

who ever will do the bench flash of the ECU, just tell them to leave the ISN blank like on a new ECU from factory. I do that by default on every conversion, but maybe worth to mention who ever will do yours.
That way you can sync it ONE time with your EWS via INPA and the immobilizer will be working as before.
        …under construction.

You just need to make sure they return your DME to you with something on it. The HW conversion involves physically replacing the ROM with new blank chips, which means that the DME will need to be bench flashed before it can communicate with the typical flashing tools.
ive decided to buy a MSS54HP ECU on ebay. Can HTE flash the csl fw on it for me?

Sounds like a question for Hassan

Many thanks. I guess I am finally going to have to learn to use INPA...

Kassel says they can do the conversion and flash in 24 hours. Is there any reason I should not use Kassel? Not really finding other options, but perhaps you guys are aware of other options.

Can anyone point me to a DIY on EWS sync?

It’s so much easier to just delete EWS! Your car is still protected from being stolen by the EWS system even if it’s disabled in the DME. Might save you some effort
