Hi Ted, forgot to reply to the last email so I'll write it here: you, sir, are a legend!
The bluebus has been working flawlessly in my european 2001 530i wagon. Integrates seemlessly with the original car telephone system, love the fact that I can press the steering wheel button and start talking to the google assistant 😬
I noticed the alternator whine, but I don't mind it.
Sometimes the steering wheel controls are a bit sluggish, but that's usually fixed by changing between the computer and the audio menu on the nav screen. Very happy with the unit!

I've noticed that the R/T button, if inadvertently pressed in BlueBus mode, disables the track U/D buttons. Is it possible to either completely disable the button or better yet make it do something useful like function as a Mode button? I understand that it functions on the same wire as the pause/voice command button, just at a different resistance.

        Hey Jordy!

Contact me about the alternator whine. That can usually be fixed with an inline ground loop isolator.

Hitting the R/T button should actually kill those controls regardless of audio mode. See, since the BlueBus is emulating the factory telephone module, the MFL is acting like it would with the OE TCU in place and is directing commands to the TEL module rather than the RAD. I cannot send a mode button press to a Business CD radio, but what I can and should do is emulate the OE functionality and start scrolling your contacts on the radio so you can select someone to call.

        Thanks!

Hey Ted, for verifying the wiring on a given application, what connector/wiring diagram should I be looking within the BMW documentation?

I found what looks to be just the ticket (see attached PDF) for an E53 but the wiring isn't even close to what the bluebus 54 pin TCU installation instructions suggest. I assume I'm not looking in the right place...

You're looking at the SES wiring. Have a look here:

Thanks. Spent many a time there, lol. I was taking to heart the comment: I have done my best to ensure that the table below is accurate for all vehicles, but you should really check TIS to ensure that I'm right.

Are you saying your table is good for the E53? The wire colors are all different but I know that doesn't mean much...

Haha, yes. That mostly applies to European vehicles where they completely eff'd with the pinout of the 54 pin TCU connector.

                Thanks!

                  Ted,
hi. reached out to you regarding the alternator while. whenever you can, fill me in on it. i do see ground loop isolators but they're more for 3.5mm jacks. not sure how or where we would splice it here.
                  thanks.

My Inbox is a shit show right now, but I'll sift through for your email. It doesn't fix ALL alternator whine, it just fixes the issue when it's audible during normal playback (which is unbearable).

You'd still use a 3.5mm isolator (I buy the Mpow ones from Amazon). I have some adapter PCBs for the 6 pin connector to make them 3.5mm.

Ted, any news if the orders that were about to ship have started to ship?

I have a small stack that's ready to go and a really large stack that I'm still working through. I'm trying to work through shipping a bunch at once to make my life easier, so the plan is to test and package them tomorrow and Saturday, then label them Sunday so they can go out on Monday.

Anyone that ordered from ECS should have theirs ship either today or tomorrow, FWIW.

                          Thanks!

Or Australian early E46's with the weird wiring like mine! Still very much appreciate the time you put into helping me figure out what wire does what, works so well!

This actually applies to all 1997 - 2000 E46s. I just hadn't run into this edge case until late in the game
