I was fine with the original steering rack, it was leaking the only reason I am changing. I can go yellow or purple tag but they are hard to find. Car is on jack and now I am in dilemma lol.Originally posted by YoitsTmac View PostIf you're a die hard for steering feel, I'd go yellow or purple. Also on the street, you can expect DSc intervention at Lower speeds

If you're at all like me, you need to try it before you dismiss it. Put it in and give a whirl, then make your decision. Swapping out a steering rack and having to flush the system again isn't the worst thing in the world, but it's also not the most fun.Originally posted by bullet0770 View Post
Should I put this in or buy a used original rack and sell this to a track user 🙁

Don't do it. If you want mine, you can have it for Pennie's on the dollar to play with. Been meaning to list it locally as is. So done with it. Two alignments. The three times I went inspecting what the hell was going on. But the steering was like an F30 not in sport mode. Just no weight at all. It's pretty intense if you do anything remotely quick under 40 mph. Any aggressive driving in 2nd will require DSC stage 1 to be offOriginally posted by Bry5on View Post
How bad were the interventions?

I’ve actually been thinking to manufacture and produce something closer to 2.7 turns, might not be bad to rip it open and engineer this a bit.Originally posted by YoitsTmac View Post

I better keep it brand new and sell to someone who would use it for track. oh boy simple question went into this lol. Maybe just do a yellow tag or green tag which ever I could find.Originally posted by davidinnyc View Post

Oh no I’m not interested in one at all still. But my super knuckle is slightly quicker than OEM so I’m expecting this issue to show up. Just wondering how bad it is and if I’m going to have to consider a DSC delete, which I don’t want to do.Originally posted by YoitsTmac View Post

I'm curious to know whether anyone has actually tried programming LENKWINKELKENNLINIE_2 with the value underlying "wert_02" (I think it's 0x01 from memory?) as a custom parameter to an M3 MK60 with NCS? I've believe wert_02 would give a slightly faster ratio than the wert_04 (CSL). I know someone on M3Cutters figured out that wert_02 would be better, but when they looked in NCS it wasn't presented as an option so they gave up. My hypothesis is that it's possible the actual curve associated with that config value is still there, it's just not exposed for M3 VOs.Originally posted by Bry5on View Post

Wert 2 is for the non-m which has a ~3% quicker on center ratio than the M3 CSL. This is why it doesn’t show up in the M3s. My knuckle is ~6% quicker than the CSL so I’ll be programming in that non-m value. So it’ll be off by ~3% still.
I did the reverse a few years back, programming M3 ratio into my non-m MK60 so I’m assuming this should work just fine.‘02 332iT / 6 | ‘70 Jaguar XJ6 electric conversion

Hi David, Which one did yo like the most for feel and drivability? I will be looking for a used rack and pt this for sale for someone looking for race car steering.Originally posted by davidinnyc View Post
I have a black tag that I've tested in my cars as well (yellow, blue, purple, black have all been tested). I'm pretty sure a more robust power steering pump is needed to run the black tag…

If the steering is too light, wouldn't you want a lower pressure pump?Originally posted by davidinnyc View Post

Reading it over it sounds like the rack can't displace enough fluid so it is causing an overpressure - seals blowing out and really light steering. The pump is a positive displacement vane pump so it will pump at the pressure that is regulated by the pressure relief and it doesn't care how much pressure the rack needs unlilke a centrifugal pump. For example, if the pump relief is 1500psi but the rack only needs 1000 psi...the rack is going to get 1500psi. Getting a heavier duty 1500psi pump will cause the same issue. Sounds like it needs a lower pressure pump.
