Regardless, I'm still intrigued by this.

By the way, in the repair/replacement instructions for the BMW carbon roof, they tell
you to heat/bake the roof until the glue weakens to remove the old roof. So it's entirely possible that the method you suggested would remove that block. Whether or not the resins in the carbon block would be any good after that (reusable) I have not a clue...
I'm willing to bet that the block would get damaged during removal. However, this dude managed to remove an entire roof without damaging the car or the roof, so it's definitely possible: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0jdThGJtem0&t=872s

What is this “selling car” everyone is talking about? 🤔

Ha! I ain't selling my car!

I was referring to reselling the brace down the road... not the car. Just evaluating the entire scope of getting one of these. Throwing it out on Nam3 classifieds after installing it would be a challenge.

That said, I don't imagine selling the brace either!

Perhaps this is a silly question, but is the firewall on our cars a structural location to take the loads of this reinforcement?

Very few aftermarket parts are actually tested and verified to improve something. A hard lesson I've had to learn a couple of times. I think this is something we both know very well!

I would guess the chassis twister allows Slon to optimize the product weight vs increase in stiffness. It should not surprise anyone that a strut bar with 3 mounting points would provide more stiffness than 2 points. Example, I considered stiffness when I built my roll cage along with various sanctioning organizations rules, safety, ease of ingress and egress. I added some stiffening braces and corner braces. I know the chassis is much stiffer but the question is what is the benefit of all the extra stuff.

I remember HPF had an issue on their Stage IV car (the orange car) with the front strut tower deforming (EDIT) in that it crumpled the sheet metal between the firewall and strut tower. Not sure if that was due to a system issue, a modification related issue, or HPF screwed something up. Just looking at my car I could see that being an issue in a car that sees high G-loads. I'm on Toyo RRs and routinely pull 1.3-1.4 lateral g's and the car has seen up to 1.61 lateral g's. I'm sure that will go up when I put on stickier tires.

Again, hats off to Slon for the effort, work, and expense. Wish I had a use for something like this and their rear pass thru delete panel.

Well after they are done with this, we need a 1pc csl lip (that fits oem csl bumpers... and the e93 M3 race cf airbix (like Motorsport24!!

Beautiful Beautiful product. The things that concern me are access to blower motor, and ease of reversing install and mainly PRICE LOL

Their chassis stiffening products aren't for you (because cage), but they have an upcoming product that will be VERY much up your alley.

Awesome! How was it? it’s already annoyingly tight in that area.

Our "novice" mechanic made it for the first time, and with the strut removal etc it took less then an hour.

It is nice that the bar triangulates. But you cannot compare it to this race car. I am pretty sure those reinforcements are part of the roll cage. They are not just bars from the strut to the firewall.

It does look like a superior bar to any other on the market, but I still have never seen any proof these things do all that much, and especially considering the cost. If karb charges 1k just for the single piece design..

What proof are you looking for beyond the results from a chassis twister (which Slon provided)?

Hmmm... do I sell my M Performance CF strut brace, for this?

I think you missed my point. It was not to draw a direct comparison between a street car and a purpose built racecar based on a street car chassis. It was only to highlight that both mousetraps are effectively accomplishing similar goals - chassis stiffness. The racecar is obviously also focused on safety.

Maybe more aptly put. You don't see racecars with a single piece of rollcage tubing connecting the two towers without also connecting the towers to the rollcage (likely the dash bar) and/or other structural parts of the car/cage.
