Yep I went there, they're 10 mins from my house. They looked at it for 5 mins and said they couldn't do it.

On the East coast upon investigating this modification how much would it cost to get this done, few driveshaft shops I inquired approximate cost have quoted me $250-$300 (fit, weld, balance) to get this done. Which is not bad at all 🤔 I guess it's all dependent where you live, but then again those are quotes from different shops not actual work performed, will confirm upon actual work completed on the prices.

This isn't a cheap job though. This place is charging about $775 labor and parts. I'm going to bite the bullet for the sake of data but will be trying another shop for future driveshafts. These guys know what they're doing so it's worth the initial hit I suppose. That puts total cost at around $1075 for me. I am using my old stock E46 M3 driveshaft as a donor but according to this thread the 330i driveshaft will work as well and is peanuts cost-wise.

Hoping to have this installed middle of next week.
We pay about double for everything here so sounds right.

Yep, sad but true. I do believe there may be a driveshaft place in OC/LA/IE that can do this job for $300-400 properly, I just have to find it.

If one of you gents performing this mod could confirm Corradoloco's weight results it would be appreciated.
            Old, not obsolete.

I weighed the stock driveshaft on a certified shipping scale with the result of 17.8 lbs but that was without a guibo. Didn't go with the F8x drivshaft but instead with the YFCM. The weight came in at 11.8 lbs without guibo.

Thank you for the info🙏, By any chance can you share your feedback immediate observations when you switched from stock to Yfcm driveshaft? Is there noticeable difference ?

I shared it on page 6 of this thread. There is a very noticeable difference.

                      Interesting.

Back in 2015, S55's were snapping these things so BMW went back to metal driveshafts lol.

I took my DSS CF one out because it wasn't balanced correct, if anyone has this finally installed, I'd like to know who you used and if they would do it for all of us.

Pretty sure they went back to metal because cf didn’t fit with the increases emissions gears.

Either way— no danger of us snapping them 🤣

There's late model F8x CF driveshafts, for example all the CS models have a post-LCI CF driveshaft. The ones we are using are pre-LCI.

Update: carbon driveshaft has been successfully completed. Will be picking it up tomorrow and weighing it. I should have driving impressions in the next few days.
