I'm assuming there is only one or two different companies actually making them and then being rebranded to multiple companies. I have an Eonon headunit and have been extremely happy with it.

Just installed an Avin Avant 4 and so far so good. No issues and install was straight forward and came with all the extra bits. Let me know if any specific questions. Pricey but its super fast boot up and shutdown and the equalizer is great with the bav sound system installed at the same time.

I assume one company is making/selling the screen/facia, and other companies are buying that and adding their own electronics.

I have combed through aftermarket options for a while.

Literally because of this thread, I decided to finally order a BMW business replacement radio (961-216 model). Used of course, but in great shape. My current radio's volume knob is jacked up.

I don't daily my M, so no use for carplay, etc. just going to keep using the factory radio and GROM unit for music LOL.

The OEM radio plus a bluebus is really a great solution as long as you don’t care about navigation or CarPlay. I personally think it’s the best looking option.
