Heavy Duty exhaust hangers?

My stock ones were completely clapped out somewhere around 60 or 70k miles, the muffler was flying around. I replaced them with some "oe equivalent" ones and they were toast in like 2k miles already! So I bit the bullet and bought OE again, but filled the gaps with a soft silicone RTV. They are holding up great now. Firm but still compliant.

How many miles have you done since you installed the OE silicone modded hangers?

Just had mine replaced today with fresh OE hangers.

Let’s see how long they last this time. And if they do fail, hopefully it is within the 24 month warranty period, as I just missed out this time…

Yes, use all three and get notable NVH and a muffler that will not move, use one on the passenger side only for less muffler movement and not really any NVH.

Also be prepared to hack off some of whatever bracket you have on the front driver's side as its too long. Great brackets overall, I love the spacers you can use, no more washers stacked up in between the car and mount.

Are you using the stock muffler?

If you want to reinforce the stock hanger to last much longer (mainly the passenger side hanger), you can zip tie four pieces rubber hose (coolant type) in the four voids of the hanger. This will allow more movement than a poly mount would (good thing) and will limit some of the extreme movement, such as during hard acceleration. The mount should last much longer.

I pulled my original stock hangers off (86,000 miles) when my SS kit went in; one was worn as evidenced by separation. Replaced with stock, make sure they are in the correct orientation, should last just as long?

put a worn out/broken hanger on a piece of cardboard. Fill in the cavities with hi temp silicone (sometimes called RTV - red in color). Solid yet flexible. Not that I've done it, but seems legit.

Id just get these and fill them up with RTV. Oh and one RE one for the passenger side sounds like a good idea

Just following up on this.

Appreciate the suggestions chaps but I have discussed this with my mechanic and it was decided to replace the split hanger with a fresh Genuine BMW hanger.

I will monitor it every six months or so and if it splits again within 24 months then it will be a warranty job.

If it splits outside of the 24 month warranty period then I will simply replace the standalone hanger (which is the culprit here) with a poly mount (and retain the two rubber mounts on the other side).

For reference, the back box is standard although it has had the TrueBlue mod. Also all of the hangers were fitted in the correct direction.
