Well the car had two bidders till the end, the out-bid buyer is in the comments and bailed out at 43K, but seemed serious about the purchase. So, even if the top bid is not legit, this car was going to sell in the 40s.

It will be very interesting to see if this is a one-off or the start of a new upward trend.

I have a nicer example (2006/6MT) and I just updated the agreed value on insurance last week from 22K to 29K based on the previous 2-3 BAT wins in that price range for very similar cars.

Nah, that was maybe $13 car 2-3 years ago. Verts didn't start to appreciate until just a year or so ago. You could buy sub-50K Tiag/Dove 6MT pre-LCI coupe for $18k 2 years ago. I bought my '05 ZCP w/89k miles 3 years ago for $15k, and that was average price, not low not high.

Not only that, but the winner looks to be a dealer or equivalent based on his profile and bidding. So he is thinking there is more room (I'm not saying the market believes it).
