Something tells me the 80 year olds who sold the car had no clue what they had. I feel kind of bad for them.

I hope the seller compensated them fairly but of course we have no way of knowing. Two rules, one, you don't rip off old people. Two, you don't rip off single moms if they appear to be struggling. Everyone else should do their homework and know what they have. I have an ex-friend who was so happy he had ripped off an older couple I knew on a furniture deal (was some old colonial era stuff). I had introduced them and I knew right there he and I were done, uncool. In this case if the older couple owned an e46 m3 they probably weren't struggling to pay the rent, but still the principle applies.

Couldn't agree more. I guess if the 80 year olds thought it was "fair" then that's all that matters. Still feels like they were taken advantage of. If this car had hit the market, everyone would have seen it and it would have made the rounds and would have had a bidding war. But I don't imagine there are many 80 year olds selling a 2002 LSB M3 with that low of mileage on Craigslist, Facebook Marketplace, or whatever. Purely speculation, but this sounds like someone knew the old couple had the car, relayed the info to the seller, seller reached out and gave a price, 80 year olds lit up with joy (while still very much under market value), and off the car went. I'm sure it will be a wonderful flip for the seller.

I shot the link to several M3 buddies. All reactions were the same - your car is beautiful, well executed and well thought out. It's done right. Hoping the BaT market at large recognizes a good car when one hits the auction.

Yeah I've noticed E46 lights are harder to take out than E39 - my M5 lights are easy.

Back on topic - nice to see those comments about not taking advantage of people. Was it someone here who asked the seller for some details?

I think you don’t need to remove the headlights from the car. Just remove the corner lights, lower headlights trims and you can remove lenses directly from headlights still install on car.
