What you do have now is a path for unfiltered air and other foreign objects to enter your engine. I would epoxy that thing back on just to be safe.
Right that makes sense. I guess there would be a problem if it was running a MAF like the stock airbox, but it's not.

Anyway, has anyone here elected to repair their de-bonded ports and have a suggestion on what epoxy I should buy and anything I should know before trying to repair? I've never done anything like this, but it seems simple enough if I buy the right stuff.

PlasticBonder™is a quick-setting, two-part, urethane adhesive system that provides strong and lasting repairs and works on thermoset, carbon fiber composites, thermoplastics, coated metals, concrete & more.

This is supposed to work with carbon fiber composites, never used it myself though.

So, could anybody point me in the direction where I could find somebody to load the tune/do remote tune if I get the airbox?

I will be contacting HTE this Spring, would like to see if the tune I have from Kassel can't be improved upon. Although a remote tune versus the canned tune which I have isn't a very fair comparison.

If you're using the Kassel as it comes from the conversion, I can assure you it can. I had a huge improvement from Kassel stock to TTFS, and then I had another significant improvement from TTFS to Paul Claude.

              HTE tuned my car https://nam3forum.com/forums/forum/m...4667#post64667

From a very reputable shop, the canned tune I had on my car (without the CSL bit and MAP conversion) was... well this was the master techs own words "Whatever fucking tune you have on this thing get it off, its dangerous and slower than stock"

The box itself looks insane, it was a great price compared to the competition. I've also had fitment problems with the cabin air filter housing and now the oem strut bar ever so slightly rubbing. I've used the fixes and shaved the housing. Still rubs, I contacted Turner and they were very quick to offer me a v2 when it becomes available. I have stopped running the cabin air filter for now, and will use one more washer per side on the strut bar to mediate more wear/damage. Breaks my heart to see this thing smudged lol.

I hope the V2 of the box doesnt have any compromises to flow with their new modifications, thats all I really care about.

That price is really crazy. Sucks that it's $1400 after tax.

Where in Texas are you? If your near Austin there's a great performance shop owned by a member on here.

Fort Worth, so not that far. What is the shop you mention?

Severn Tuning provide a wide range of aftermarket performance upgrades not typically available to enthusiasts, including specialized Engine Control Unit (ECU) tuning. Each ECU tune is individually developed by a licensed professional engineer. Your project is our priority.

I have EPIC on my car from the PO, but I have not been able to get any support even when I offered to pay for a retune to do a custom map for my Z4M (I assume this is for your Z)

Does anybody have advice on IAT placement, is there a spot that works better than the normal location at the front of the box? My IAT needs to be modified to fit anyway so using a different spot doesn’t matter, if there is any benefit to be had. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Without the snorkel (where mine is located) it becomes a bit more difficult to find an alternate spot for the IAT without making some type of one-off mount. The ribbed pipe that comes up from the brake duct inlet area could be an option.

Would having the sensor not installed in the air box affect the tune? Obviously it would see a cooler temp down in the clean airflow than actually inside the box but I’m not sure it would be enough of a difference to matter? I’m not using a MAP sensor either if that matters. Thanks in advance

The sensor placement wont affect your tune, but with cooler IAT temps your engine can run a bit better, however the placement must be within reason.
My buddy has an E39 M5 without a front bumper and his IAT is zip tied up front, not really even within the "intake tract" of airflow to the intake.

I got my SMG conversion done there. I plan on asking him about the Turner airbox when I go to get my rod bearings done next month.
