You could but you would need a Windows licence for the Windows VM.

Just get a cheap Windows laptop mate.

Yeah that's what I thought mate. My cousin has a windows tablet, told him to bring it over and I'll download the tablet and give it a shot once the car is back.

If you have an Apple Silicon MacBook Pro you can run VMware and Windows 11 for ARM. Microsoft don't seem to enforce a trial period or activation period for Windows for ARM if used in a VM so you can currently just use the free install for forever.

Thanks for this I knew that we'd collectively arrived at some conclusions but couldn't remember what they were!

So i turned the A/C on and performed an engine fan test at 10% for a little while to raise the engine temperature.

Would it be possible to display TMOT in the Engine Fan Test?

I did think about requesting a temp override for the VANOS test but that would skew the community's VANOS test results.
You know what - I had the same issue, but that my thermostat is old and so opens slightly colder than designed. Couple of options: 1 is to do exactly as you say and have an override in settings. Could make it a select for people with 70, 75, 80 thermostats, and default to 80. Alternative would be to use oil temp as the pre-req not coolant temp. It's not exactly what the original test procedure calls for, but tbh if the oil is warmed up I don't really see how a small variance in TMOT would affect the test in any way?

              Great idea! will add this.

They currently are not, nor are they recorded in History. That's a good point though. Probably for the tests that generate resultant information that info should be both exportable and recorded in History. Thanks for this, will have a think about how to best do this.

Stop the presses. The DIS VANOS test prerequisites are:

                Engine running at idle
                Coolant temp > 75°C
                Oil temp > 40°C.
No errors in the DME - I don't think that is very useful. Perhaps an override for that, for those of us who do not want to clear the fault memory to run the VANOS test?

The beauty of this is you do not need a dedicated Windows laptop anymore. Plus newer laptops are way faster and have proper battery life.

I tried the CSL flap test with and without the engine running.

Makes a somewhat loud buzzing sound for less than a second and produces this error message.

huh interesting. works fine for me. although that's the error message I get if I try the DMTL test (which is not installed on my car). I wonder if not all cars handle the e-box fan in the same way?

I'll see if there if maybe ISTA can activate it, I may have some type of fan or wiring issue as well for all I know.

                              Nice program though, very streamlined!

nice one! I don't know where I got 80 degrees from then!? could have sworn that's what it was for ISTA when I checked, but checked again and it's 75 there too. Will amend. Yeah I decided the no errors in the DME condition wasn't worth doing, especially given people are probably running these tests when diagnosing an issue, it didn't seem like a realistic condition. I get what they're saying in that if there's an issue with the module being tested the test won't be successful, but that's kinda the point haha.
