Any thoughts/experiences you guys would like to share?
The new revision is way better than the first batch. It has minor imperfections here and there but if you want perfection I would go straight w/ karb. Some of the imperfections are hard to tell unless you’ve seen a karb in person. It’s good for the price.

Did you go with the Motorsport version or the premium? And how do you like the overall performance?

Believe it’s the premium version (it was a replacement for the old version). Dyno at 330whp. I was going to get the karb after I got the replacement but couldn’t justify spending an extra 1k for it including their snorkel. Specially since I like Haimus snorkel (no flap and looks stock)

I do like their snorkel design a lot. The Karb box doesn’t have to run a flap though correct?

Correct you don’t have to run the flap, I’m pretty sure the Haimus snorkel with fit the karb

                Update:

Sold both of my TMS boxes, warranty replacement and the used one. Turns out the used box not only had the mounting pins sheer off, but also the bottom-front side bung get torn away from the box completely. Glad to have sold both boxes and be moving on to a Karbonius. Not sure if I just got unlucky and was sent a defective box the first time around, but I’m definitely not happy that I even went the TMS route. Would’ve saved myself time and a headache had I just gone Karb first as many suggested.

Hopefully others have much better experiences than I did. Also wanted to give a huge shout to Chris from IND-Distribution for reaching out to me after I posted my experience, and informed that they had the Karbonius box and snorkel in-stock and ready to ship stateside. Allowed me to have minimal downtime on the car, and had excellent communication from beginning to end.

To those with TMS boxes, I advise to keep an eye out on the durability every so often. If something has failed prematurely, reach out to TMS and go through the warranty exchange process. While the box is “cheap” comparatively, it’s still your money, and you deserve to get a product that is built well and holds up over time.

I want to bump this up to see roughly how many people are having issues with the version 2 box. I've had the version 2 box sitting in my garage for about a year and would like to install soon. Some "no issue" replies would make me feel better about going down this path. Mainly concerned with the pins on the lower section.

ID:	129810 I have had the TMS v2 box installed for about 6 months now on my daily M3. To say that I haven't had any issues with the box would be wrong. The biggest problem I have with mine is that once proper clearance is achieved between the box and the strut bar it becomes impossible to remove / install the trumpet without loosening the engine mounts and jacking up the engine. I've put roughly 6k miles on it and I haven't had any issues with the pins or the bungs that the various air tubes connect to. About 4 months ago I did new rod bearings and I decided to install some new mounts at the same time. I wanted something that would be oe plus so I went with the 034Motorsports mounts that ECS sells. Long story short they were way taller then stock and made the intake contact the hood liner. I ended up sending them back and getting a set of solid rubber street mounts from Morehead Speed Works. Granted they don't dampen vibration as much as a stock mount but its only a slightly noticeable difference (as a side note on the MSW mounts they come with a removable spacer to lower the mounting point by 5mm. Their smaller profile also adds extra space for future headers). Aesthetically I like the look of the TMS intake over the other intakes on the market. If they continue to improve their design I think it will be a great product for the price point but currently they still have a ways to go.

Pictured from left to right are the sagged out stock mount, the msw mount with the 5mm spacer removed, and the new 034Motorsports mount.

No issues with mine after 9 months of use.

I know this was a long time ago but I repaired both the sheared out pin and the bell damage like this on a v1 box. Hasn't been installed so I don't know if the fixes will hold but I'll figure something else out if they don't hold.

For the pins, I found an appropriate sized allen key, and cut off a few pieces and epoxied them into the holes from the manufacturer.

For the broken bell tab, I chopped some cf weave and mixed it into jb weld. Taped the hole off from the glossy side and packed it in with cf and jb weld and then drilled the appropriate sized hole once it was cured.

Also reinforced all the ports with jb weld.

Looks great! I hope the repairs hold up. I started down that road but decided to return the TMS box and spend the extra for a Karbonius box with the snorkel. Click image for larger version

Has anyone checked to see if the Eventuri replacement filter will work in the Turner Motorsport CSL air box, which retains the OE CSL box BMC filter? I contacted Turner and they were supposed to order the Eventuri replacement filter and test fit it in the Turner air box. Haven't heard from them since, and the fella who was supposed to get back to me with the result is no longer working for Turner.

It won’t work. It says on ECS website.
