Is 18 gauge wire satisfactory for constructing this harness?
      Old, not obsolete.

        More than enough.
Try to use TXL instead of GXL or SXL.

          Thanks.

I have enough 18g TXL left from my electric fan project to get this done.

Mostly I was concerned with it being sized correctly for the OE connectors. A little googling indicates the connectors accommodate wire with a cross section of between 0.5mm and 1.0 mm. 18g falls right in there. I was just too lazy to look for myself and figured the hive mind would know.

Complete derail, but you wired a fan with 18AWG? Bit small ain't it?

Fair question. The 18g was for the fan controller. For the fan itself I used 10g.

Reach out to them if there's interest.

FYI, I contacted Auto3Design recently as well and they are going to build and sell a harness based on the diagram in this thread. I asked them to size it for an air rail mounted MAP sensor. The link should be available this weekend, and the harnesses should be ready next week. Will be interested to see how it looks. . . . I'll likely give it a try as I gather parts for an airbox install.

Hey turns out my illustration was good for something! glad to see this move forward. Post up when you have it so I can see how they handle the fit and finish.

Will do! And great work again to you and karter figuring this out. I told them I bet they’ll sell a lot of these because this seems like the new go-to solution for a CSL airbox install with MAP.

BMW E46 M3 S54 IAT relocation and MAP pressure sensor conversion kit - Version 2 Building on from our extremely successful Version 1 plug and play kit, the Version 2 improves the sleek and discrete look of the kit even further in the engine bay. The Version 2 kit removes the loose MAP signal wire to the Engine DME connectors and only requires moving a pre-existing wire in the connector block on the DME. This is an all-in-one kit utilising the OEM MAF sensor connector when running any intake setup on your BMW E46 M3 (CSL style airbox/velocity stacks/standard airbox) combined with a CSL clone engine remap. This kit provides a separate IAT sensor and a MAP sensor, mimicking the BMW E46 M3 CSL setup. Please specify when ordering if you require a CSL or threaded style IAT sensor. For fitting into most Carbon airboxes, a CSL style IAT is required (Please check before ordering and contact us if you are unsure). Components included: 1 x IAT sensor relocation wiring harness with MAF sensor removal and MAP sensor pre-wired plug and play loom. All hardware required to fit the wiring loom. Online installation guide to help with fitting. Optional hardware: 1 x New Bosch MAP sensor 1 x New Intake air temperature sensor (CSL or threaded style sensor available) NOTE: You will need to run a CSL clone engine ecu tune to utilise the MAP sensor function. Due to stock supply issues, the brand of sensor you receive may not be identical to that in the pictures. Each loom is custom made to order and can take up to 5 working days to be processed. If you require immediate delivery, please contact me directly before ordering to check stock availability. We can also manufacture the wiring harness to your custom length so please send us a message before placing the order if you wish to discuss your installation.

Looks like a pretty slick solution. You can select your airbox type and if you are using the OEM air rail, in which case they will size the harness accordingly for a clean install. And you can opt to exclude the sensors if you already have them. I'll give it a try and post some pics.

much appreciate bavarian3 for coming up with this. I will definitly run this for my new karb box. I just want to get clarification on v2 connection for MAP signal wire to DME - Do I plug the connector straight into the DME?

To clarify this was all karter16 I just helped visualize and surface the information. Check the Diagram again, MAP signal goes into the MAF connection, so the harness above would plug into where the MAF is plugged into on a factory non-csl configuration. Only change at the DME is moving a pin from one slot to another.

Can someone confirm wiring for the MAP sensor to harness? I am seeing a DME fault for the MAP sensor so want to make sure I haven't got this wrong

looking at top of MAP sensor pin 1 right to left pin 3
                              Pin 1 → Pin 7 (5V)
                              Pin 2 → Pin 17 (Sensor Ground)
                              Pin 3 → Pin 18 (MAP Signal)

Are you not wiring it via the MAF connector?
