Would love those dials, the push button waiting time is painful

Not kidding, you're using it wrong.

With the buttons, there should be no reason to ever press them. Set the temp to your comfortable, press the auto button, make sure the snow flake is on (any time of year), set the vent dial to neutral, never touch it again.

It doesn't get hotter faster if you set it to a higher temperature, and it doesn't get cool faster if you set it to a lower temperature. Just... hands off.

If you really want a short term blast of hot or cold, set the vent dial to hot/cold, then back to neutral once that's over. I think do that once every year or two :P

The only HVAC buttons that ever get any use on my car are defrost and recirc (when there's something organic, than the auto recirculating can't detect).

Trying to use automatic climate control manually is, indeed, painful. But, also, pointless.

That's how I use mine as well, but for the people who are after the minimalist interiors, the dials are the play.

            This looks fantastic

My neighbor had a manual climate control laying around so I swapped it out. The vent selector knob did not work correctly and a quick search showed others having a similar issue, so I swapped it back. Did I miss something?

Regardless, Obioban is right - digital hvac controls are perfect. Manual controls are neat but worse, if you're into that kind of thing.

I could have sworn I remember looking into manual controls a while ago and it was not just a simple swap. The HVAC controls and wiring are not the same as on the digital control layout.

Want to try something different. I am sure the digital is better but always fun to try something different. Maybe have to scrap this idea.
