One step closer, Nogaros should be here tomorrow, old rusty manual seat rails are now painted, now just to figure out the seat heat situation.

Definitely taped over those and put strips of cardboard in the rails to prevent getting paint were it shouldn't be. Also used pipe cleaners pressed into the gaps between the rails/sliders. Just need to figure a way to re-grease as I cleaned out a lot of it with brake clean. The rails were pretty bad condition wise.Originally posted by freshprince2421 View Post
I hope you taped off the brass slider levers. The paint flakes off when used. Doesn't look great smh2004 Silbergrau Metallic 6MT

Bought it 3 years ago. Got word from local people on someone selling it.
At the time I was just looking to find a spare head for some porting.
People at BMW confirmed they are 99% it's from a P54.
Curious to see how it performs after the motors gets rebuild and dynoed after braking it in. Although I did a lot of changes so I won't be able to allocate a certain amount to the head.

I used a long thin flat head screw driver to apply small globs of grease every centimeter or so. Slide the rail to one extreme, apply grease. Slide it to the other extreme, apply grease. Slide them back and forth a few times, wipe up any excess (shouldn't be much if you didn't overdo it on the globs of grease) and call it a day.Originally posted by Cubieman View PostJust need to figure a way to re-grease as I cleaned out a lot of it with brake clean. Cooling system overhaul today. This ÜRO pulley I bought would not mate properly to either water pump I had. Wouldn't recommend cheaping out with this brand like I tried to do. Just glad I tried spinning the water pump before I moved on. You can see the gouge on the inside of the pulley where it was rubbing. OEM pulley went back on, at least for now.
First real project since I bought this car. Very nice engine bay to work in. 👍3 Photos
