Hmm, Vince has you keep the threads for his products. You drill up into the trunk with a drill bit that's the same size as the minor diameter of the subframe bolts (~10mm for M12x1.5) and then tap the rest of the insert so you can run the longer studs through. I'm not familiar with the install process for that brace, but I would keep the threads if possible.
Yeah I'd much prefer the solution that you describe. Not keen to make a no-going-back change like drilling the thread out. Will do some more investigation - as you suggest drilling smaller and tapping seems preferable to me.

Before installing the sect 1, I routed the O2 plugs through a hole in the heatshield (made when I had euro cats) and run along the tunnel, driver side
Hello
Once the pipes are installed, I pulled the O2 plus as far forward as possible, to meet the harnesses that need to be run behind the airbox and down tranny/clutch line area (already done in 2014). They'll reach a bit past the tranny brace. It's actually a good area for them to meet the harnesses as there are already some clips for the wiring of the tranny sensors.
🤞
I think this is the part I'm not understanding. Are you just showing the process of where the male ends of the harnesses got routed through ?
Yes, at least in that post, there are no pics of any of the routing from engine to transmission as that was done back in 2014. I want to say I had some more pics/info at the time back on m3forum, but when I had to recreate this thread, I don't think I put the info in. I'll check to see if I have any pics from back then. I remember a thread on this forum with more info though, if you want to try searching.
Worry not! It's only being married and having kids (esp the 2nd kid) that has curtailed my hot modding streak. I can do this shit forever. Tho the trick might have to be to keep getting more m3s to work up

haha too true - 2nd children are something else haha 🤣
I posted the same thing, basically, 2 years ago, but I have something new to document this time 'round. Here's everything (hardware-wise) that I swap for the test:
Not that I drive it much nor are conditions extreme, but the inside of the (karb) box looks brand new still as does the OE filter. TBs still pretty as well and those I cleaned like 8 years ago (20k)
All set, hardware-wise. Doesn't take long at all. Now to tune.
I've been tuned for about 8 years and have flashed back and forth probably twice that many times. I was starting to get close to the flash counter and, obviously, didn't want to brick the ECU, so I went ahead and finally purchased MSSflasher so that I could reset the FC, and flash faster than BMWflash (free) can do.
Smooth sailing
While flashing my alpha N tune (Evolve-R) back to the car, I wanted to lower the front just a tiny bit. After going down to 343lb rates in the front, I'm still playing with how low I can go without scraping the car in some of my favorite sections of canyons out here. I don't love how the car looks at 13.5" and above, but I know the car needs travel. Luckily I've the hardware and enough spring/light enough car that gives maximum travel, but lower ride height.
Took the opportunity to check on my new HEL brake lines, looking perfect particularly the rubber grommet that holds the line to the strut. The cheaper lines' grommets just crumble in my experience and don't fit too well anyway. HEL is perfect!
I was waiting until the next time I had the strut brace off to install my MPOWAAAAA decal to the airbox.
Light polish and clean
Look at the weave. Just look at it.
Measured and marked
Proper
Next thing to do will be a decon, perfecting polish, and application of ceramic coating, most likely Gyeon Pure Evo that I still have about 40ml of (used 10 on the E90's E88s), but I'm still building out my garage and suffering through a kitchen remodel, so it may be a little while plus the E90/X7 are getting more focus these days :/
Coming up on 15 years of ownership later this year. Still gives me big feels
