It's not a fun job FYI
Forgot to come back to say "thanks".
I think I can squeeze in just enough room on the driver's side (~1 ft) to remove the wheel. I will need access to my shelves with parts anyway, so that should be enough as well.
Yes, not looking forward to it, but having just done an oil pan gasket on an E90 xdrive, RWD should be a breeze! haha The E9x was taking up the whole garage though, which is why I'm concerned about anything special needed from that driver side. Hoping to start in another month, so watch for crying threads popping up.

Another cooling refresh question I have is what components are ok to skip on genuine BMW?

I have a cart set up with BMW Waterpump, BMW radiator. But then I choose a Borg Warner thermostat, mahle fan clutch, febi fan,, rein hoses and VNE coolant sensor.

Get the o-rings that WOLFN8TR sells if you're doing rein hoses. There was a thread in the old forum where some people had issues with the included o-rings. The hoses themselves are fine though.

You just posted exactly what I did last summer haha. The only thing I did different was an oem fan clutch but you should be fine with the mahle fan clutch.

Are you getting the parts from FCP or elsewhere ? If you can wait one more week there should be some sales coming up.

I can't believe this hasn't been stickied yet:

Thought i'd make this again since we don't have one on this forum. If you have any additional items or corrections please do alert me. Ill continue to update it and attach a current download PDF after revisions. Im honestly not very good with formatting and making charts and all that so it's not the prettiest but it's the best

I have a leaky crush washer on my timing chain tensioner. Some idiot when finishing the rebuild forgot to order more of these and reused an old one.

Do I need to remove anything else to be able replace this? Not physically per say, but like safely for operation of replacing this crush washer. I can’t think of any reason why I can just pop this out and call it a day.

You don't have to remove anything to remove the tensioner but the tensioner itself can be bitch. I had to use a bench grinder to shorten a socket and then used "socket caps" along with a 3/4" wrench.

Thanks for the quick reply! Yea I’m not looking forward to doing this inside the engine bay again. It was a whole lot simpler outside of it. I’ll give those socket caps a try if I get in a bind!

I'm going FCP, I'll definitely be waiting for a potential Black Friday sale. The car has 69k on it and I don't plan on doing the cooling refresh until ~100k, just trying to stock up on parts before the prices go up or NLA.

Also forgot about the little line running from the expansion tank to the radiator hose that you have pictured on your FCP cart. I'll have to figure out that little clamp deal on the exp. tank side.

Cubieman Prices have gone up already on certain stuff. Last year I stocked up on everything needed for my subframe reinforcement. I’m comparing prices now and I’m glad I purchased when I did.

I bought my cooling stuff when FCP had the summer sale 10% off up to $500. So I had placed a few separate orders just so I can get the discount. I’ll post some more screen shots in case you may have forgotten something else.

They’re still on the site. Miscategorized for some reason.

What is the name of this part that is broken on my car? Having a hard time finding it on the parts diagram.

Looks like part #21, a cover for the charcoal canister.
